You don't need to sit in that spot, you can fish anywhere. As long as you have a suction cups mon then you have a 100% fish encounter rate

Chain fishing right now, is there any way to keep track of your chain other than counting the Pokémon you encounter? Currently using Malamar with suction cups.

Nobody uses synchronize for fish chaining, you need suction cups to reliably fish up pokemon.

You can only talk to that npc that tells you about chain fishing to see your longest chain. Knowing your current chain doesn't really matter that much anyway.

Just fish in a spot that's SURROUNDED BY OBJECTS like rocks, unenterable terrain, etc and you will NEVER get the "Nothing is biting" message.

Except that isnt true. Suction cups gives an extremely higher encounter rate, but its not guaranteed. Really it just takes finding a good spot. On the Cyllage beach theres a biker or hiker, cant remember, right by a large corner spot of the beach. Thats where I've always used. Got all 3 fishing shinies easily from there.

Spots that are entirely surrounded/adjacent to rocks mean that you won't get the "Nothing is biting" message. There is a SLIGHT, very slight chance of getting it.

Meanwhile Suction Cups guarantees you won't get it.
