Friend safari shiny rate is doubled on top of that.

It doesn't. One guy claimed to find lots of shinies when he had a bunch of things with illuminate, there's zero proof that he wasn't just lucky and nobody else seemed to experience any significant boost.

I used that method yesterday, never got a shiny safari till then. catched a shiny kirlia.
I had the illuminate one fainted in first spot and my kirlia synchronizer on second. I used the encounter opower also and every few seconds I had a battle. after a half hour I found my shiny kirlia

i've never chained, bred, soft reset or searched for shinies in the wild
i have gotten a random encounter:
magikarp (sapphire)

After the first two i was so afraid of getting another one that I didn't fish and used repels in the water between when dp came out to when bw came out
finally when i went to replay pearl i got over it and decided to fish again so then of course on my first encounter

Shouldn't boxing be quicker no matter what? If you soft reset then you're spending some time biking around with 0 eggs, then 1, then 2, up until 5 when your party is full. If you keep boxing eggs and running around with 4-5 at all times how could it be slower? Unless I don't properly understand how people who box everything work. Even though it's only a very small change, I think Glaceon's a nice one. It looks like frost, or pure white snow.

Sylveon and Umbreon are the 'safe' bets for shiny Eeveelution though. Just don't do Espeon, unless you don't mind lime green shinies.

Well anyway, I only have one other Shiny Frogadier, and it actually has sentimental value to me, for being my first Shiny of the game, so I'm going to have to say no, sorry.

I think tipping does increase shiny rates.
When I started tipping 1000 everytime i did rotation battles, I started running into shinies in the wild.

I've just started breeding for shiny Fennekin this weekend, about to start my 5th box.

I want to ask, is it faster to gather a party of eggs and then hatch? Or to fill a box with eggs and take out party-fulls in Lumiose?

I've been doing one party at a time but I feel like all the flying is slowing me down. All the babies are guaranteed at leave 4 perfect IVs so I'm not too concerned about having a ton of shit left over. Should I switch to boxing?

Flying from the daycare to Lumiose. I can hatch a party in like 3 minutes there.

I might try the middle ground of only filling up one box of eggs at a time so if I do have leftovers it's not a ridiculous amount.

1. Judging by the fact that you're flying, I would gues you're using the 'Fly-to-Lumoise-with-5-eggs' thing and hatching them in the middle. Don't do that, because it's extremely inefficient and pointless.
2. You're better off using the FS for a shiny Braixen. It's possible to get a great one in there. I got mine there, it's a Modest Female with Magician and 31 Atk/SpA IVs.

A few days ago I started hatching riolus and I got a shiny the same day after about an hour, and yesterday I started hatching for a zorua at around 11 pm, and I just hatched it a few minutes ago

It's just not worth it.

Shinies are completely irrelevant to me, and I'll have more fun battling than biking for them. I'll stick with my normal colors for normal pokemon, and any shinies I get are happy accidents.

True, but I hear hatching them sucks. I tried hatching Beldum, gave up and found a Metang in the Safari after about an hour. I thought this would be a similar story.

What I did with Tyrunt eventually is bike up and down just collecting eggs, keeping maybe two in my party just so something might hatch, until I had a box full. Then I went to the centre of Luminose and weighted down the the dpad and hatched the eggs five at a time. Much better.
Hatching power is at Luminose after you get max style.
