Yes, it is. If you're going offensive Flare Blitz and Extreme Speed are a given, Close Combat compliments them nicely. Wild charge is also a good option.

Personally I use Morning Sun over it though because I prefer a more Bulky Arcanine,

i run 252hp/252atk/4spe adamant, my set is Espeed, Flare blitz, CLose combat and Morning sun. It does pretty damn well.
If you're going in game I can give you a morning sun/CC growlithe for free.

Yes. You need it.

Arcanine needs Close Combat to hit Steel and Rock-types that resist his main attack (Flare Blitz). Also great for bulky Normal-types.

Yo I have some 4 IV Muk with shadow sneak, some baton pass venonat, some 4 IV axew (rivalry, but make kinda decent dragon egg group parents) a female skorupi with 4 IV (i think) with battle armour and a bunch of other junk I dont remember.

Let's say I want to use one of these in the Battle Maison.

Would it be smarter to have:
Flare Blitz / Extreme Speed / Close Combat / Morning Sun
or
Flare Blitz / Extreme Speed / Close Combat / Wild Charge

I'm currently making my way through the Rotation Battles if that matters.

arcannine is not tanky enough to heal and loose a turn, its a sweeper, you go full attack lifeorb

I think both those sets can work. Wild charge hits the few things your other moves can't (Gyarados for example) but it's pretty niche as CC will hit bulky waters hard anyway. Don't forget about Crunch.

Personally I always use Arcanine as a physical wall. He's hilariously good.

For the battle maison sweepers are better, so wild charge is generally better than morning sun. max attack max speed is betther for the maison.
