I'm planning to get one, but my estimate for his effectiveness is: not very.

140 BP no downside with scrappy IS good, and with choice specs he WILL hit hard, but he's going to be predictable as fuck and he still has low base speed so he's not sweeping any time soon.

Still looking forward to running him though.

I'm currently running a baton pass smeargle with quiver dance, a +1 speed +1 spa and +1spd exploud is a good sweeper.
I'm torn between running it with max speed or max hp, the +1spd can help with bulk
difficult to say
I use a life orb as it also has fireblast, focus blast and something else.

modest, 252 spA, probably 252 in a defensive stat, speed probably won't get you anywhere. Pump investment into def or spdef, you aren't his HP is already good so don't invest in that, focus on one defense and try to fight pokemon that match up well with his defenses. give him choice specs and watch the blood spray. Trick room support will help, but he's not the slowest pokemon around so he may not always go first even under trick room.

Also give it assault vest. Exploud has great special bulk with assault vest, more than makes up for doing less damage with boomburst.

of course he's going to be bad against one of the games best special walls. You might as well say latios sucks because blissey shuts him down.

Exploud has lots of problems bu tht epower of his moves is not one of them.

Grow some balls and use Fire Blast. Exploud can't survive for the second turn so you've got to play hard or die.

-Surf/Focus Blast
-I personally use Roar

Ice beam and filler. I go with quiet Exploud so I can run a mixed set with hammer arm or earthquake. Exploud also gets circle throw, which could give him utility over power. Otherwise you could do a modest Exploud and use surf.

Has it been proven that Chatot DOESN'T learn Boomburst as an egg move? It shares its egg group with Noivern, so there's that. Gamefreak actually had the chance to make its shittier creations have a small niche, and I hope to god they took it.

Definitely focus your efforts on spdef
He's not bulky to begin with, so spreading it out is like trying to put not enough butter on toast. You're better off focussing on one stat and tanking it to the extreme unless you have reliable recovery or REALLY good stats.

Exploud has a decent HP even without any investment so the combination of max Defense EVs and Assault Vest makes it bulky on both sides. 252+ SpA 140 BP STAB move will seriously hurt anything that doesn't resist it, even Ghosts thanks to Scrappy.

I went all in SpD. Someone on VP said you get better returns with some weird proportion of HP and SpD, but I don't know if that's true or not, as I don't totally understand how defensive stats calculate.

It's been proven that it DOES learn Boomburst as an egg move. I spent a few hours getting one with Boomburst, Nasty Plot and perfect IVs.

Also its Special Attack is higher than Exploud's, meaning it's the strongest rape train of any Boomburster.
