The weather nerf made him solid since Chlorophyll isn't as reliable, and his recovery move, Synthesis is now more reliable. It's quite nice that he can perform two different niches.
But the problem with the majority of the mega evolutions is why would you use them over Mega Gengar, Mega Kangaskhan, .etc?
