It's a parasitic octopus that latches onto animals in a weak state. (i.e limping dogs) The body of the animal is a husk where the parasite lives.

Pretty much paras but with octopi.
I know it sounds stupid. Kill me now.

Seems more like a Normal/Water type.

Retrievers and hamsters seem like they'd usually turn out to be normal types IMO. Regardless, I'd train the shit out of these two.

Yeah I guess normal/fight and normal/water could work too. I just figured octopus parasites = poision, since octopi are sort of poisonous, if I remember correctly.

It's name is Sklish.

It's a ground/water type composed of a squishy body and multiple tendrils that serve as false heads/ eyes while the real 'Pokemon' takes shelter curled up somewhere in the center.

It rolls around in order to ambulate, and is mildly buoyant, but cannot actually swim.

what has science done.

Like, I guess it'd be neat if it was a bit like Silly Putty or gum and just sort of picked up elements depending on where you leveled it up (say, to 20) at.

Level it up while using Surf, you might get something that looks a bit like a pile of sand and shells (it'd gain a water move or something idk).

Level it up normally, and you might get something that looks like you'd rolled it down a driveway.

I don't know. I'm putting too much thought into this. But I like the idea of it finally figuring out how to protect itself from things that want to eat it.
