>>15822294I've experiences this. I've been learning about natures, breeding, IVs and all that since Gen III and amassed a lot of knowledge. (Though I never got around to trying my hand at IV breeding until gen V because I procrastinated)
So last year my boyfriend of 3 years finally caved a bought an SP and Fire Red from gamexchange because Pokemon is my thing and he felt left out. He hasn't played since r/b/y and considers himself a proud genwunner (he's insufferable about any gen past gen II. That when Pokemon got #lame. I deal with it)
so he made the mistake of asking me about IVs and such and I told him everything and tried to teach him how to do it. I got about 15 minutes to explaining it all before he shut me down and told me it was too much work. even though he'll take advantage of glitches if Fallout 3 and spend 2 hours running between 4 towns selling a shit load of the same item he cloned.
But after a month he was 10 Pokemon away from completing the National Dex and getting all his Pokemon to lvl 100, not just his team either so I'm proud of him
