As a French person I find it annoyingly stereotyped. I haven't played the game in French (don't usually like the translations) but all the stupid "le" and obvious references to what they think is French culture are just... Yeah. It's weird. I think it's mostly that France is easy to romanticise and stereotype in a way suitable for Pokemon, but I think it actually alienates French players.
