Question about the Masuda Method!

If I let my Pokemon hold an everstone or a desitny knot, does it effect the chances of getting a shiny?

From gen 4 onwards everstone would cancel out Masuda.
They say it was fixed in this generation though.

No difference. The value that determines shiny has no relation to those that determine IVs or nature, so those hold items do nothing to affect shiny chance. IVs only affected shiny chance in Gen II, and natures only did up until gen V.

That image makes me more interested in how Spinda's spots work now. I know there's no way to know, but they could have repurposed the mechanic to plot spots on the texture.
