Muk is my favorite G1 pokemon, I wanted to make him more viable in the competitive scene so here's the build.

Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Sticky Hold
EV's: DEF Max - HP Max - ATT Leftovers
Moveset:
Power-up Punch
Poison jab/Gunk Shot
Shadow Sneak
Rock Slide

Thoughts? Improvements?

Seems nice. Muk's actually pretty versatile so there's a good amount you can do with it. Mine had the SubstiPunch combo and Black Sludge.

I don't really feel Sticky Hold is worth it.

Yeah, most i'm worried about is earthquake for him though, one and he's half health even with this build, seeing as how earthquake is so widely used I tried to find away to get him alot of Special DEF and DEF to survive, assault vest solved that with sticky hold no one can take that from him. His base attack his pretty high as well so I think this build would be optimal.

How woudln't it be? Stench is only a 10% chance and Poison touch is nice but I don't really feel it'd be that useful.

Stench isn't terribly worth it on a Pokemon with base 50 speed

Poison Touch would be cool if it stacked with Poison Jab chance but I don't know if they do stack

I figure OP is worried people are running Knock Off more often now that Assault Vest is very common.

Have you ever tried the Curse set? It's pretty good. I had made one for my gf and she was able to wreck some people online.

I havn't, That was going to be my second choice, I kinda got lazy and found out assault vest was a thing with sticky hold.

Oh ok, yeah that could work too. But you risk it with not being able to heal, if you want to keep it around, run a support to pass down some Wishes. Also, Power-Up Punch is a pretty cool move, but I would run Ice Punch instead, since Dragons still roam around, and for Ground Types.

Awesome, yeah I was planning on going with a wisher, for support. Yeah, I was debating on an elemental punch instead of Power up but power up is so nice xD. I think I will go Icepunch.

The reason why i'm using Sticky hold with assault vest is due to psychics rolling my face off. Assault vest makes his Special DEF 450 enough to survive an alakazams Psychic. DEF EV is for surviablity against Earthquakes like I said earlier.

I use a poison stall Muk on my Trick Room team and it works great:
Stench @ Shuca Berry
252 Def 252 Sp Def 4 HP
Protect
Toxic
Poison Jab/Gunk Shot (depending on if you prefer Accuracy or Power)
Extra spot

Theres a lot of good moves it can learn for that last spot (I prefer Ice punch on it). Almost any nature is good that lowers speed.

Yeah it is a nice attack, but Assault Vest will be boosting your attack, especially when he has common weaknesses this Gen.

Are all of the 6th Gen battling stuff on Showdown already? If so, try making a team with the Muk set, and try it out. Figure out what you really have a problem with, modify it, find other mons to pair it up with for better synergy. Once it works to your liking, you can make a real one in the game.

Yeah, trick room is great, I think Dragalge is a better stall now with it though, 44 speed is lower then Muks and it has a higher base Special DEF and DEF. Though if you have a hacked one with Adaptability you can say hi to one of the best sweeps lol.

Yeah, Dragalge probably is better, I just prefer Muk's design and movepool (Ice Punch is great). Use whatever works for you though

It will be this gen. Knock Off has 65 base power and that increases by 50% when it knocks an item off the target. Not only does it have great utility it is the strongest Dark Type physical move in the game now, lots of mons will be using it.

No no no no no no.

Max that HP first and then go for the defenses, you're wasting so many EVs with that spread. You could probably get the same level of bulk on both the physical and special side and have EVs leftover.
