Help me out, /vp/. Since there's no move tutor that teaches various elemental punches in X or Y, I have no idea what the fuck to do with this thing. I really want to use him tho. Here's what I'm tossing around but I'd like any help ironing it out and if possible explaining why something is better.

Golurk@ ???, nature: Adamant?
EVs: 252 Atk / ??? / ???
Ability: No elemental punches, so No Guard?

Earthquake
Shadow Punch
Hammer Arm
Fly

I kinda feel obligated to use Fly, and with No Guard it never misses so it seemed like an ok idea. Good/bad?

If you're running No Guard there's no reason to use Hammer Arm over Dynamic Punch

Fly is a pretty bad idea, I think. in addition to giving your opponent an opportunity to switch scot-free, I'm pretty sure Golurk's ability also makes it vulnerable during the first turn.

I would build it like Machamp, kind of. Dynamicpunch and Stone Edge benefit enormously from No Guard, and Earthquake & Shadow Punch are your STAB moves. Those four attacks offer complete type coverage.

Ok, thanks. What about the rest of the EVs, the item, etc? I always like getting ideas and such from other players before settling on a Pokemon, but wonder if most find that annoying or not. Thanks for the help.

Personally, I find Iron Fist to be a better overall ability.

You could put Power-up Punch on if you really want.

I would say go with No Guard Dynamic Punch though, that 100% confusion is fantastic

If you want to use Golurk right now, go with No Guard. Once Pokebank transfer is available, you can get an Iron Fist one with Drain Punch and Ice Punch.

EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 6 speed? I figure fuck speed for how slow he is tho.

Only thing is what if I want to use another Pokemon with Leftovers? Is that not allowed?

Would running Jolly nature with Dynamic Punch, Stole Edge, Rock Polish, and EQ/Shadow Punch work? Or should I just drop Polish all together?

Ummm, Assault Vest would give him a base 120 SpD? Not terrible considering most of its weaknesses are rooted in special attacks.

Just to be sure, the Assault Vest. It makes his Special Defense go above what the stats show, yes? Like, it doesn't cap at his total maximum? Probably a dumb question, but just making sure it works how I think it does.

It has almost the same stat spread as Machamp so build him like that. I would go full hp and attack. As for the item before you just jump to give him leftovers I say try out the assault vest. That 50% special defense boost is great
