Yeah the Steel nerf sucks for it, but it's a change for the better in general. (It also gets rid of fucking Jirachi). Metagross is just collateral.

The better to Trick Room Weakness Policy with.
Also, Metagross has been a Doubles staples since forever.

But seriously, try that set out.

Trick Room means you can invest in MAX BULK and Attack, nearly guaranteeing your Weakness Policy going off without being KOed.
You can even run Bullet Punch if you fear priority, most all of which you resist (and you'll outspeed Sucker Punch under Trick Room).
Steel losing Dark/Ghost resists means Weakness Policy is a reliable boost at some point in the match.

You'll end up with coverage issues (as with any non-4 Attack Assault Vest set), but MMash/ZHeadbutt/EQ makes for pretty well rounded set for what it'll use. Deciding between Zen Headbutt and Bullet Punch is up to player preference.

I'm running a typical banded metagross on wifi, is weakness policy/agility worth the switch? Also does he even do well in a trick room? I feel like his speed stat is still decent enough for it to backfire in many cases

Steel nerf, will o wisp buff, introduction of faries etc.
They probably saw bw nuts metagross was in 4v4 doubles and decided it was good enough already.

In Trick Room with min Speed EV/IV/Nature, it outspeeds neutral base 50s with ~27+ IVs.
Relevant mons with < base 50 Speed: Conkledurr, Rhyperior, Quagsire, Bronzong, Amoongus, Slowbro, Snorlax, Reuniclus, Forretress and Ferrothorn.

The nice thing about Trick Room is that it doesn't have to be up all the time. If you're up facing slower mons like Reuniclus, don't use TR; or in some cases, like Payback Conkledurr, do use TR anyways.

For your set, Agiligross may be better. Unlike last gen, where Agility was bad because it then lacked both power and coverage, Weakness Policy breathes new life into most every Metagross set since it's just too damn good in using it.

The pros of using Trick Room over Agility Meta (who outruns more things) is that it can invest in bulk (only makes Weakness Policy better and Metagross last longer), screws up opposing speeders/revenge killers/Scarfed mons, and potentially supports teammates.

Both are fine, really.

I realize that, and it's not like Stunfisk even needed slowing in the first place. Still, the fact remains that Limber is now 100% useless on Electric types like Stunfisk, where before it meant that Glare wasn't going to make you more useless than you already were 25% of the time.
