I don't get it. His stats are subpar. Even if he gets +1 priority, that only helps when trying to deal with specific threats. He seems more like a niche Pokémon rather than one to build a team around. w/e

First off, you need Rapid Spin support. Starmie because why not.
Then, pick a physical sweeper with an attack stat that doesn't suck.
Set hazards with something. Preferably stealth rock.
Find something to switch in for when Extreemespeed comes to OHKO you.
Add a Mega.

What's not to get? It straight-up checks most fast, frail sweepers, beats Blaziken 100% of the time no matter how many boosts he has, and can be used effectively as both a suicide bomber and a scout.

Remember it was an 80BP Priority Bullet Punch that tipped Scizor from relatively rarity in the early days of DP to the most-used Pokemon in two consecutive generations. Priority Brave Bird is better than that.

Scizor has significantly higher base attack to check the lower BP and offers more bulk due to its typing. This allowed for Swords Dance to be used, followed by the priority.

However, I'm not saying Talonflame doesn't have the ability to be used successfully. The power to check Mega Blaziken is neat, but that role can also be performed by something like Azumarril. I'm going to compare it to Breloom, who also has horrible stats and yet made it to OU.

I just wish Talonflame had a higher base attack. I'm not saying it is useless, I just think people are overvaluing it right now.

Sorry for not making that clearer. The attack stat, combined with priority, did allow it to thrive. It also had other neat tricks such as Spore and a choice between Poison Heal and Technician. The overall stats are fairly low, however, which is why I made the comparison.

Priority BB with life orb hits like a fucking truck to anything that is neutral and outright one shots anything that is weak to it. So basically anything that is weak to flying never stays in. They MUST switch or face death.

With those multideu of switches comes the easy SD.

Now neutral hits are one shooting everything. T

This thing is a monster and requires little to no skill to use.

Then what? Tailwind before you die or just die from your own recoil.

If talonflame does not net you at least 1 kill every match, you are the worst fucking player of all time.

Choice sets can also carry Hidden Power Ice for Gliscor since he gets walled by it and his SpAtk is just barely lower than his Atk and you don't need anything besides Brave Bird and Flare Blitz on choice sets anyway
