After doing my research, I feel I've got a good concept on how to breed the perfect pokemon via dittos (as is the usual/popular method). I'd like to make a thread in which I can reaffirm my hunches and receive further insight from you wonder anons!

I have three dittos, each with 2 perfect IV's! They blanket the entire 6 stats between all of them. So, how do I go about this? And how long should I expect to see the results of a perfect pokemon?

I'm thinkin' I should breed with ditto 1, get his IV into the child, breed the child with ditto 2, and get more IV's into the grandchild, and finally, receive one more (or two more depending if I get ballsy and try without destiny knot) from the third and final ditto.

Is this how it should go down?

Doesn't work quite that easily. Even if you get the first Ditto's two perfect IVs, the Pokemon may inherit the other parent's stats when bred with the next Ditto.

No matter how good one paren't IVs are, it'll be nearly impossible to get good results if the other parent only has two perfect IVs. You're best off breeding both males and females until you have a good one of either sex, then breed those and forget the Ditto.

OP Here, thanks for the insights. I'm trying my best to follow pic related, where the guide tells one to obtain either two 3IV ditto, or three 2IVs.

Use dittos to start, eventually roll over to the mon your breeding for when you get one of each gender with 3/4 31 IVs, replace each gender with children with 4/5/6 IVs until you're breeding with two 6 IVs of each gender to guarantee 5 IV children. If you're using an everstone and the destiny knot, you work fast enough and get lucky results you can powerhouse this shit in a couple hours.

But I only started breeding a week ago, does that sound about right, though?

You'll want to get a shitload of dittos with two or three IVs, so you can get a lot of different natures.

I *think* I have natures covered. I can firstly obtain a lv.1 poke with the correct nature, and then start the ditto breeding to initiated the IV carry over. I think.

Sigilyph. I believe it's an equal ratio.

Like I said, I got a timid sigilyph with the correct ability lined up. I'm hoping that breeding it with a ditto with 2 perfect IV is the correct step, because afterwards, it seems like a rinse and repeat process.

Pretty much, but chances are you'll get one with perfect IVs in the five stats that matter long before one with 31 in all six stats.

I need help with IVs. I have a Piloswine with perfect attack "Likes to thrash about" but when I breed it with a destiny knot I keep getting something worse like "proud of its power" "somewhat of a clown" etc. What am I do ing wrong?

That's true, but from personal experience I found it took a lot less time to find a 6 IV than it took to find a shiny. Using them to breed instead just made sense at the time.

I guess if all you want is a perfect 5 IV mon that part isn't really necessary.

Breed it with either a Ditto or something with better IVs that's in the same egg group as Sigilyph. Then breed the offspring with another Ditto or whatever until you have two Sigilyphs with three or four perfect IVs.

Does the Pokemon you're breeding it with have poor IVs? Even if both parents have max Attack values, the offspring may inherit either parent's HP/Defense/Special Attack/Special Defense/Speed IV as its own Attack IV.

I did my first IV breeding project the other day. It took me about 50 eggs to get the female, drought, 5IV Vulpix I wanted. Getting 6 IV is all chance, I think, since only 5 of the 6 are passed down so that last one is 1/31 ish. For Vulpix I didn't care about that last IV since I'm never going to be using Attack anyway.

I think what I did was catch a bunch of Dittos, check them, then bred one with 3 stats with the Ninetales that had the moves/nature/ability I wanted. When I got a Vupix with those three, I switched it in and added a different ditto, with the other 2 stats. Then when I had a m and f Vulpix, each with 4 of the 5 I wanted (differing on only one), I put them in together. I got a 5 IV after about 30-35 eggs, but it was Flash Fire instead of Drought. It took another 15 after that. Speed kept not going in to the point where I thought I might not have a maxed speed one in there...I did, it just didn't want to transfer because of shitty luck.

I saw a good graphic about it that explained it well and inspired me to give it a go, I think it was with Fennekins, if anyone has it to post.

Ill share my experience OP. Usually it just starts with a 2 IV ditto for me that I got from a friend safari (to make it easier of course). Then you can either browse /vp/ for a bit and see if any threads come up that bros are willing to give away 2 iv leftover pokemon. (or breed them yourself)

For example: I have a ditto with 31 IV's in HP SP. ATTK and speed. I managed to breed a random houndoom I caught with this ditto (i made the ditto hold destiny knot and the houndour an everstone) until I got a houndour with IV's in SP. attack and speed.
I then took out the first houndour and started to breed the new houndour with the ditto. This one took sometime until I got a 3 IV Houndour with HP, SP attack, and speed.

It really is just a matter of trial and error. I find it easier to make the ditto hold the destiny knot and the other poke the everstone.

So I have a pokemon with 4 IVs, in everything but special attack and special defend. So now I breed it with a ditto with 2 IVs in the specials, both pokemon holding a destiny knot.
Then I get a 5IV kid and breed it with a ditto of the right nature, main pokemon having a destiny knot and ditto with everstone. Right?

It's a long and painful road, but once you finaly do manage to breed yourself a perfect six pokemon, and if that pokemon happens to be male, then you actually have a whole egg group that suddenly becomes super easy to get at least 5 IVs every time.

And then some Pokemon are in two egg groups.

Just do your best to get a perfect Pokemon in every Egg group that's male and you'll be cruising on easy street... unless you manage to lose your destiny knot.

Only one needs to hold the Destiny Knot, it draws from all 12 available IVs. However, breeding a Pokemon with 4 IVs with a Pokemon with 2 IVs in the remaining areas doesn't guarantee anything. Eventually you'll get a 5 IV, but you could end up with no maxed IVs with that set up. If possible, it's nice to have overlap so that that particular IV is almost ensured (unless it ends up being the 6th one that is left out).

I prefer breeding in the Nature at the beginning, then making the Pokemon hold the Everstone and the Ditto hold the Destiny Knot.

I hope that made sense, if you need clarification just ask.

The probability for getting a 5IV mon with two 5IV parents is 31.82%, which means slightly less than 1 in 3.
If we have less - let's assume one parent has already 3 IVs and the other one has 2 - we have the chance of getting a 5IV child with 0,13%, which is 1 in 792. For getting only 4 IVs out of those you already get almost 1 in 100. What I want to say is - don't despair, it can take really long.

ATK +2 is in Route 19, not 18
There's also no horde-places in route 8

It seemed like it's easier to get higher IVs on the pokemon so he would be the one with the knot and not the ditto. I also got lucky and got a 5IV one, in all but sp atk.
I should have done the nature sooner but I still need to figure out what I want my nincada nature to be, seeing how it effects two pokemon.
But if I do it now, a everstone ditto and 5IV knot pokemon, I'll still be okay right?

Yeah, it would still work out, the odds just might be a little low but if you stick to it, the right one will come eventually. Also, if possible get a Ditto with the right nature and IVs in at least 2 of the IVs you want so they overlap. Makes things easier.
