I know you're bait but Blaziken forces a switch on all but those two mentioned pokemon in OU. You can't say that isn't format defining. A baton pass Blaziken is also almost guaranteed to succeed, since it doesn't have the crippling softness to Scizor/Skarmory like Ninjask does.

If you didn't ban Blaziken, every OU team would be soft to it unless they ran Talonflame AND a phazer.

That begs the question of how this ban was decided when it wasn't discussed at all doesn't it? I thought this shit was supposed to be done by consensus not the Smogon shadow council deciding things on their own

A hell of a lot of their decisions are not tested rigorously enough, and there is so much inertia behind all their rules that actually getting any of them to use some critical thinking skills and look at a scenario objectively is ridiculously hard. Evasion for example took it in the ass this gen, it now has a multitude of counters and a lot of good reasons why it should be unbanned, but a huge amount of users on the site just go "Nope, it would mean I'd have to use moves less than 100BP, muh OHKOs" and end the discussion there.

If you look at the usage statistics right now, Blaziken is nowhere near dominating. They can't possibly be basing this ban on actual data gathered from a month of testing, because the data does not suggest he is an overcentralizing force in the meta that needs to be removed.

Note, I'm not saying the statistics we have right now are an accurate and worthwhile predictor what's fair and balanced. I'm just pointing out we don't have any reliable data.

Blaziken (at least in 5th gen) overcentralized the metagame like hell, just like Thundurus-I , Tornadus-T, Deoxys-S, Genesect and Excadrill.

Scizor, gengar and keldeo do not overcentralize shit and never will. deal with it.

Muh buzzwords. You don't even know what the fuck 'overcentralization' means do you? Anyway Mega Gengar, Talonflame and Aegislash are centralizing the metagame a fuckload more than Blaziken ever did. If you don't carry a Talonflame counter you're fucked, if Smogon worked on pure objectivity that would be the first thing banished to Ubers, the fact that it was Blaziken suggests there's not really a clean slate and their council just went "Duuur Blaziken was ubers last gen, and now it even stronger so therefore it must be ubers this gen" without considering any of the changes that will drastically change the metagame, the fact that Blaziken wasn't the only mon to receive a mega evolution for starters.

I swear to god, if all the megas get banished to ubers Smogon is dead to me.

Take Terrakion. 91/90/90 defenses, that's above average. 129 Attack is fucking powerful. 108 Speed is fast. Most other Pokemon have to give up some kind of bulk for power, or speed for bulk or something, these guys have it all.
