It's not about how much shit is hits super effectively, it's about how many types resist it. Outrage wasn't ridiculously good gen 4 and 5 because Dragon hits everything super effectively: it was good because only Steel resisted it. Flying is resisted only by Rock, Steel and Electric. Only a handful of Rock and Electric types are commonly used and Pinsir has Close Combat to deal with Rock and Steel. Additionally, a lot of commonly used Steel types like Ferrothorn, Forretress and Scizor don't even resist Flying to begin with. Why you'd think Flying is a bad offensive type is beyond me.

Sweepers have always been boring and stupid to deal with in the game, especially if you want to play more intelligently than "WHAT TYPE IS IT? OKAY I'LL USE THIS MOVE" and maybe do some tricks with buffing, debuffing, baton passing, using item swapping/stealing moves, playing with weather, or in any other way trying to be strategic about the battle.

There's more than enough for a full party of 6 non-legendary pokemon with stats so beefed up that 90% of all other fully evolved pokemon are rendered completely and utterly useless against said party.

I mean it'd be one thing if these sweepers with more speed than possible by other pokemon didn't have enough attack to get a guaranteed one hit KO on almost every other pokemon, but the way it is now is just... painful.

10 base speed means nothing when Mewtwo already has 130 base speed. At 130 speed, the only things outspeeding are scarfed mons and 10 base speed won't do much to fix that. Plus 130 base speed is more than plenty in Ubers, and the extra special bulk comes at the expense of physical bulk, where MMX gets loads of resistances thanks for its new typing, resistances which are mostly physical attacks.

Also lets be real here, Mewtwo just has a better special movepool. Psystrike off 194 SpA is a nightmare to all physical defenses ANYWAY.

Plus Mewtwo Y has a better design. It looks like some sort of weird angelic demigod cherub thing, while Mewtwo X looks like Megaman X and the name doesn't help.

That extra speed guarantees MMY to outrun Mega Gengar and other Base 130s. Ubers is mostly a special dominated metagame, so the extras pecial bulk is appreciated. And Insomnia is much better than Pressure (but not Unnerve).

That makes absolutely no sense. MMX just became THE best physical sweeper in the game, and he also gains loads more resistances than normal Mewtwo has in addition to fulfilling a very different role than normal Mewtwo. It is absolutely a great use of a Mega.

Also, it doesn't have the movepool to back it up.

Statwise he's impressive and a 4x psychic resist is nothing to laugh at in Ubers, but he lacks the physical moveset to back him up.

Especially since MMY is already an extremely competent physical sweeper thanks to PSYSTRIKE, a signature move that MMX has no use for.

Especially since the best STABs he can muster as a physical attacker are fucking Brick Break and goddamn Zen Headbutt.

MMY does more damage as a physical attacker just running Psystrike for fuck's sake.

And anyway, that's what MADE Mewtwo such a threat in Gen V; Psystrike let him use a maxed out SpAtk stat to do physical damage, making him a mixed attacker off of investment/boosting of ONE stat. Before Psystrike he was not the powerhouse he is today.

MMY further boosts that SpAtk stat and his speed, while X gives him physical power that he can't utilize well and also removes his resistance to a common Ubers offensive typing.

Yeah, Y is so much worse than X, anon's right.

I think his mega just allows him to be used in a different manner. In his mega he has good special attack so he doesn't get walled by ferrothorn or skarmory, that combined with his increased bulk and attack make him a great wallbreaker.

Definitely that, but his base 102 speed was his greatest asset. It allowed him to outspeed the numerous 100s that are otherwise a huge threat. Even worse, he can't be scarfed, which further cripples him against speedier enemies.

Question: back in gen IV it was possible to waste trump card's PP on random mons outside, then start a link battle with 1 PP left on it. Is that still possible, or does the newfangled multiplayer battle system automatically restore all your PP?

Honestly, Hyper Beam equivalents are underrated competitively. Tactically they're shit but the amount of raw power they can output (especially if you use them as a suicide move in conjunction with sash and torrent, blaze or the grass one) is kinda worth it, since unless it's resisted you'll probably take something down with you.
