what is the point of introducing alternate methods to train EVs when there is still an objectively much better and vastly superior method available?

Oh please who actually uses that shitty system. I didn't EV train jack and it was unlocked as soon as my pokes got shit evs through playing the story.

But the normal training is complete and utter shit. I mean try to fucking complete that shit efficiently with a newborn poke at level 1 where the ev training matters. What do they expect you to get a few levels battling, obtain shit EVs, and then come back once the evs are all taken up?

We really need to get some people to test out which is faster.

A level 1 pokemon with shit stats can finish almost any of the level 1 super trainings in less than 10 seconds, and you often get rewarded with a core training bag that gives you +12 in that stat as well.

I'd like to see how well (theoretically) super+core training stacks up against gearing up like fuck and taking on hordes... as in how much more quickly one can do it.

There's no doubt it's easier, since it's just tapping the screen like a dullard, but I honestly believe it potentially could be faster as long as you're not getting small bags for core training after every bout

Horde training with proper EV item means 25-30 EV in specific stat with just one switch out and multi-target attack.

That's 25-30EVs in ~30 seconds, which is about as long as it takes to clear a rank 1 super training and wait through all the fucking cutscene bullshit.

Hordes are faster. EVs are passed through Exp Share, so the level 1 baby isn't the one that has to clear the Hordes, you can use your level 100 fuck machine to do it.

IIRC you don't get the EV item effect if you don't have the Pokemon switched in. So you'd only get 5-10 stats depending on the horde.

There is no comparison, horde training is faster, also you can train multiple mons with hordes, I trained 10 pokemons in less than an hour.

I know at least Macho Brace works if they're not the active Pokemon. Macho Brace + Pokerus is minimum 20 EVs for a given Horde.

I used it for my mons that I used ingame. Then I kind of regretted it when I realized how fucking easy breeding for perfect IVs was, and how Horde training is so much easier.

But still, I doubt I could've bought all the power items if it hadn't been for my original team being at least half decent in the Maison.

You kidding me? You have one fucking poke with it and all your pokes get it easily and repeat as needed. hen you store it until needed later. Pokerus doesn't expire in the box.

In this respect at least, it's very useful for early-game players who know what they're doing and want the best pokemon they can get before breeding and/or IV checking is possible

You can have a solid team of pokemon with good EVs heading into the second gym and they can carry you through even the postgame areas without issue

By the time the new Pokemon gets infected via Horde training, you're going to be done/closed to finished. Personally I stopped bothering with it due to the minor time shaved off.

nope just until you get the number of evs you want

with hordes you get up to 60 evs per battle if you have pokerus and power items, so it takes virtually no time at all

Wow theres a lot of misinformation getting thrown around. Pokerus does double all evs including power item granted ones. Exp share does give non participating pokemon the full share of evs. And horde training is faster so long as you arent stuck fighting 7 geodude hordes when you just want one last floatzel horde like what happaened to me last night.

This is the only reason Horde training takes me so long, I always get stuck on shit hordes.

Fuck whoever came up with the Seviper/Zangoose Horde. It's a neat idea but why does it have to be in an area with only Speed Hordes aside from them?

It takes less than ten minutes to max out a Pokemon using hordes.

There are areas with every single type of horde per stat present in the game.

You get 50-60 EV's per horde with pokerus and the appropriate power item held.

I have an Aromatisse with Sweet Scent, Dazzling Gleam, and Skill Swap (for getting hidden abilities) with Pokerus that I used for my in game run who EV trains all of my Pokemon in less than 10 minutes.

I used it to max out my Chespin's EVs right after I picked him up. Super training is useful before you beat the elite four and also helps give new players an idea of how EV training works.

Halfway through the first thing I'm maxing/about 100~ EVs in I go up to level 2, and then I just got 3 whenever. Sometimes time flies so fast I never even get to 3 before they're already maxed.

Hordes are faster, but super training requires no understanding of the EV mechanic as it relates to battle, no preparation to battle the hordes, etc.

It's the casual way to semi-quickly raise your stats without fuckups.

I've done it a bunch of times. I can usually completely EV train a Pokémon in about 20-30 minutes while I'm watching TV or something. I'd do the Horde mode for sure if I had an infected Pokémon and battle items.

also collect bags while you are breeding you effectively jump start ev training by 240 points minimum "assuming you did it right"
also ten 2x bags are way faster than grinding out points

I did super training only a few times to try it out. I find it pointless for anything other than collecting items. Horde battling is faster, easier, less tedious, and it doesn't take very much time to gather the items for it.

What's the math behind this? Does the power item give you +4 additional EVs per defeated poke? So a horde of 5 would be 25 and pokerus makes it 50. How would you get 60?
