That's kinda justifiable though. I mean, it's easy if a Pokemon gains a type, has one type but it changes, or has two types but one of them changes, through evolution.

But to have two types, then LOSE one and that's it? That's kinda tough. It's like Gloom and Bellossom.

Actually, Flying type pretty much IS Bird type, it's just given the Flying name so it can be given to more Pokemon. Most Pokemon of the type are birds, most of the attacks involve being a bird (or at least having wings), and there was even a Bird type - likely proto-Flying - in the original games.

Either way, Bug is Bug type, so it can have the weaknesses of bugs and you can extrapolate on other types to make them. A type needs weaknesses, one can assume Flying type is there because birds go after bugs.

But Water type is NOT Fish type, so you can't compare it to Bug type.

I didn't learn this until DP. It made sense at the time because in the anime, when Ash fought that guy with the Sandshrew, I remember them saying that his Pidgeotto had an advantage over Sandshrew because of it's type, so I took that to mean that Flying was SE against it.

Not really Gust and Hurricane are the only ones that really fit that description. Air Slash and Air Cutter come close, but both refer to Kaze-Itachi more than anything else. Tailwind and Defog are just gales. Everything else has to do with using superior aerial maneuvering.
