Hey /vp/oreons, I need your help. My friends all but forced me into getting X, and now they want me to compete against them in a monotype tournament. I haven't played a Pokemon game since R/B, and while I love the shit out of this game I have NO IDEA how to build a competitive team.

Charizard is my favorite Pokemon, so I decided to go with a MonoFire. My friends are probably going MonoElectric, MonoSteel, and MonoFighting. From what I can glean from talking to them, their likely Mega Evolutions will be Ampharous, Aggron or Lucario, and Heracross. Luckily the tournament is happening after PokeBank comes out, so I'm not limited to X/Y.

Format is partially undecided, though I think we can use all Mega Evolutions, and no Pokemon currently in the Uber banlist.

Running a Sunny Day team seems obvious, especially because Rain Dance can be used by so many Electric Pokemon, but outside of that I'm pretty lost. Please help me build my team, or otherwise teach me how to build a team that will be effective.
