I have had a ditto in the GTS asking for a Xerneas for 5 days and it hasn't gone yet. The custom message is "6 max IVs".

Either parent can hold the Destiny Knot, and it'll pass on five out of the twelve total IVs from the parents.

So you've got two HP IVs, two Attack IVs, and so on, and it'll select five IVs randomly from that pool of twelve.
