Competitive Wobbuffet

So I want to use some Wobbuffet in wifi and the like. Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with wobbuffet in XY?

My gut feeling is it will make a nasty mess of some of the hyper offensive pokes and megas in the meta (Talonflame, Kangkashan, Blaziken), but it's hard to do proper calcs right now.

Also, I understand that if you use Counter on Sucker Punch, both will fail. Anyone know if that is still correct?

Yes, Counter can't be countered with Sucker Punch.

I've been using Wobbuffet since IV Gen and it is extremely good and difficult to counter, almost impossible even because it's just geared for everything and can take massive hits and return them with great power... BUT you'll need perfect prediction.

It's a pain in the ass to breed properly.

It needs encore, which it can only get from Wynaut. To breed a Wynaut, you need to have it holding the lax essence. If it's holding the lax essence, it has to not be holding either the destiny knot or everstone.

You don't really need natures or perfect IVs. Only ones that matter are HP/Def/SDef.

Wobbuffet is not really as good at stopping offensive and choice banded pokemon as he was before, with pokemon like Mawile getting higher attack then Deoxys-A you are not really going to be able to defend against anything.

Your best bet is to use him with maximum speed and encore so you can encore their stealthrocks or something so you can easily set up a sweeper.

Understood, and thanks for the clarification.

In terms of general use, I don't know if it's viable in 3's to have a cleric partner to help it heal up, or if that's a waste of a poke slot and should just use Leftovers.

Actually I've done that bit already. Got more than a few good ones thanks to some ditto action. You might see some on the GTS shortly!

Yeah this is one the big unanswered questions for me without proper calcs.

What got me thinking about this in the first place was frightening stuff like Mega-Kangaskhan with a passed SD from scolipede. I don't know if Wobb can take that, but given that it will be a likely neutral hit from Mega-K, I'm wondering...

Mega Kanga doesn't even need a passed SD.

Power Up Punch does babby damage at first, to anything that isn't hit SE by it, giving your opponent ample time to counter.

I pass it SD from scolipede along with some speed and it becomes unstoppable. It laughs at sash and sturdy.
