can we all agree that there are too many pokemon?
i am not trying to start a gen war i think there are pokemon that should be cut from each gen theres always that one pokemon that no one likes or uses every gen has them, the bidoofs the dunsparces the farfetch'ds. i for one am glad we got 70 decent pokemon instead of 100 mediocre ones this gen and i hope game freak keeps up this trend.

I'd honestly be okay with them cutting out some of the redundant Pokemon. No reason to have Pidgey when Starly and Taillow outclasses it in every way imaginable. No reason to have so many Pikachu clones (only Dedenne and Emolga manage to distinguish themselves, and I guess Marill too if you consider that the Pikachu clone of Gen 2).

That being said, when Gen 3 made many Pokemon unavailable for quite a while, many people threw a fit, so I don't seem them ever doing this. I am okay with them adding less Pokemon though. Gen 6's dex felt a lot more solid than the last three generations.

the difference here being that when they did that removed about 70% of the pokemon from the previous two gens including they're freaking mascot i am not suggesting anything near just removing shit like rattata that no one really likes.

The more Pokemon released the better. More Pokemon=More diversity. Like some people hate Swoobat, I love it. If B/W only introduced 70 pokemon, then some of our gen 5 favorites wouldn't exist. Just because you think they're dex filler doesn't mean someone else won't adore it

gen 6 was a breath of fresh air to me because of all the new features implemented instead of adding a 150 new pokemon that only a fraction would ever see the light of day.

I disagree. Pokemon uses a standard RPG system but the entire point of the game is the discovery of new type of Pokemon. And if you really think there's too many Pokemon then the game franchise isn't for you at all.

which is a easy way for them to milk sales why not cut out the middle man and just take a extra year for development and give us a game with all those features instead of having us pay a extra 40$ for a better version of the same game we just bought.

there are way too many rehashed pokemon ideas and i think many of them don't need to exist and and yet no one has yet to argue a reason why we need a new fucking butterfly pokemon every gen on top of the 6 we already have.

Instead off adding new pokemon at this point, I would love it if they just added new mega evolutions. Give us a reason to use dunsparces the farfetch'ds and all the old crap, instead of just adding new crap.

They do it because people buy them. That's really all it boils down to. You can call it flawed all you want but clearly there's an audience for rushed products considering that they still sell millions of dollars.

That all being said, I certainly agree with you. There's definitely quite a few pointless Pokemon. I wouldn't mind a thinning out of some of the archetypes (early-game birds, early-game bugs, pikachu clones, etc), and I definitely liked Gen 6's Pokedex because there's very few Pokemon in it that felt like a rehash or just having a certain kind of Pokemon for the sake of fulfilling an archetype. Compare to Gen 5's Pokedex which had quite a few Pokemon that were pretty much just there because they couldn't actually have Geodude and Zubat.

Don't know why you want Dunsparce gone, though. He's pretty unique and one I'd definitely keep.

Diversity must piss you off. And arguing about cutting down pokemon because too much diversity in competitive play is dumb because the multiplayer is just one aspect of pokemon.
