I think Diantha's team was the result of the design team painting themselves into a corner. There were what, 35 fully-evolved mons this gen? And most of the decent ones went to the elite 4 for themeing, Diantha got the leftovers, the fossils and a pseudo.

I like seeing over trainers use legendaries, within reason. It's weird when you're the only trainer that owns them. It makes the protagonist look less like a game-breaking special snowflake and more like and elite trainer that belongs in the world, which I think is a good thing.

Things like Dialga and Zekrom? No. But things like the birds, beasts, and Regis? Sure, why the hell not? As long as they're given to elite trainers, it's fine.
