Except for the fact that GF introduced gender differences between male and female pikachu's to make their gender more recognizable, and pikachu is clearly female

Also notice that in the pokemon games only pokemon of the opposite gender can be afflicted with affection. Since the anime is meant to teach kids the game mechanics, it can be applied that pokemon isn't a place wit a lot of sexuality or gender confusion. (Well except for James)

I can explain this, but it's still very stupid. Essentially, they won't bother because every Charizard discussion devolves to what it is here, everyone spouts Stealth Rock all the time, and they no longer want to deal with the pointless bickering, so all matters regarding Charizard are closed.

Otherwise, their prevailing logic is that if a pokemon shows affection for another, then they assume it is hetero and if one is plainly one gender, then the other is the opposite gender by association. (if they aren't already known as a certain gender)

There might be little reason to say Ash's Charizard is anything other than by gender roles (which they don't count). They DO state that Charla is female, and there is no reason to believe it isn't female, so yeah, their logic is flipping flawed. Not to mention that Ash's Totodile is stated as being attracted to apparently female pokemon, and they won't fix it either.

Outside of Japan, we got Red and Blue because Red, Green, and Blue were merged into two (Blue provided the update codebase and changes to the tileset designs, sprites, etc.; Red and Green provided the version-exclusive Pokémon and in-game trades). Dude, Gen 1 was originally planned to be the only Pokemon games, so having the "Lightning AMERICAN" in them wasn't that big of a deal considering they wanted Kanto to be completely exist on Earth. However with subsequent gens have made the Pokemon world be a completely different world than ours, so even though the game says Lighting American, don't read too much into it.

Really I don't think that the characters of pokemon are complex enough for them to really develop their own gender role. It should really list sex instead of gender because sex is objective. We can assume by game mechanics that attract works of of the pokemon's sex, regardless of what gender you would like to argue they identify with.
