Haha! Well, you see at one stage in the Kanto region, the air wasn't heavily oxygenated, apparently due to the presence of three mysterious bird pokemon! Since then though, the atmosphere has regulated itself and what are called "Steel types" are not just effected by fire attacks, they are SUPER effected!

The recent discovery of fairy types is a real game changer!

One day suddenly a bunch of Pokémon gained a new typing without warning. Professor Juniper is studying it as it seems closest to her field. No Pokémon Professor even seems to actually publish their theories though, they just state facts.

I personally believe there was a mutation in Kalos that caused Clefariy+Azumarill, etc to inherit the fairy type.
Thats just my headcanon, I think its a good idea

I blame Xerneas. It and its Fairy Aura probably turns whatever it wants into a fairy once it lands in Kalos.

Yeah, I think the aura caused eggs to hatch with fairy types for Clefariy and Gardevoir and shit, or the Gen6 fairy types bred with the pokemon and they simply inherited the fairy type

I think this can make sense. Natural selection over time caused some Pokemon to develop a natural defense mechanism against some others. Only those that survived fights with Dragons went on to breed and create offspring with these innate mechanisms.

Magnemites and Magnetons in Kanto had a serious deficiency for a few years due to the shut down of the Kanto power plant. Many caught Magnetmons were softer and more comparable to the feeling of plastic when you touched one, save the magnets on its sides.

Anyway, once Zapdos left the power plant, the Magnetmons were able to better feed themselves and within a few years the plastic-magentmons were replaced by a healthy population, who acted as one would expect of them.

Well, seeing as how Magnemite only evolves into Magnezone in certain mountains cause of something in there, I guess it is safe to assume that something in mountains/factorys (were magnemite are usually found) fused with them causing them to be steel.

Clefairy gets it's powers from the moon, it even stores moonlight in them to hover. Then we can assume natural selection had anciet Clefairy evolve over time into Marill, Jigglypufff, and maybe even Snubull and Dedenne. This would explain why they could be reacting to a change in the environment and reacting as so.

They do. The pokedex alludes that Durant and Heatmor used to be different typing and evolved to cope with one another. (Possibly Bug vs Rock, then Bug/Steel vs Rock, now Bug/Steel vs Fire)

Eh? It's not hard to explain. The reappearance of Xerneas allowed all fairy pokemon and potential fairy pokemon to embrace their power. After all, Xerneas is the one that created fairy pokemon anyway.

Arceus is a time-traveler, as it built the being made out of time. Thus it went back to the formation of the universe and altered the mechanics of the universe to make Fairy a type after these Pokemon which displayed behavior inconsistent with the order design. It crafted a new plate based on this.
