Dub sounds like it was done in LA based on the cast. It was really fucking good, especially compared to what we're used to.

Yeah, I would if I could. I'm at the Pokemon TV page, but it just lists episodes of the regular anime in the five regions. Nothing about Origins, even when I use the article on the site about Origins release.

I find it weird that they still feel the need to rename Green to Blue. It's kinda odd since he is clearing wearing green like Red is wear red. Also Pokemon LeafGreen is a thing, so the name Green would not lose its reference.

the Japanese voice cast used none of the main anime cast and it was a breath of fresh air. I'm so glad the dub followed in their footsteps because I would have wanted to punch something if we had to listen to gary voice green/blue and non-origins!oak any time they showed up. Oak's voice could have been better, but by the mere fact it's not the main anime's oak it's way better than expected.

Thank heavens. Was waiting on reactions before I decided to watch the dub, good to know it's done by the usual bunch of LA VAs. They're overused, yes, but they're good actors and a refreshing change of pace for this series. They should move the main anime out there.

I didn't mind the dub at all. I wish they had an actual old man voicing Oak (what's Tommy Lee Jones doing, anything?) but I'll take "young man" over "young man trying to sound like an old man" any day. I think Red's voice sounds a little older than what Red looks like, but that's more or less expected in a dub, and his actual voice acting isn't bad.

I wish the game menus used the actual Game Boy game fonts, but that's just nitpicking.

I'm surprised they didn't bother translating (or even just masking) the Pokedex text. Since it was obviously done on a computer, it shouldn't have been difficult to swap out.

Because I go all out against a dude I don't think is a legitimate threat? At that point in time Blue was just sauntering along on top of the world, the hyper energetic rival theme is more fitting for someone like Barry who is always moving as fast as he possibly can.

I mean, if you played Pocket Monsters Red and Green, I'm sure you'll appreciate that more. I simply recommend the dub for those who played Pokémon Red and Blue in English when they were kids (which I'm guessing is a majority of the people on this board).

In episode 2 Red goes to a pokemon orphanage in Lavender Town and finds out about the Marowak. he goes into the tower, battles Green and proceeds to beat Rocket Grunts. He takes the Silph scope and sees the Marowak. The Cubone also goes in the tower and meets the Mother of the ghost. Mr Fuji gives Red the Pokeflute and Charizardite X as a thanks

Only the first episode is out, but they toned down Charmander's scream of terror. It's not necessarily ruined, but after hearing the original it's slightly disappointing. Besides that, everything is satisfactory so far if you can get used to the differences in voices between the normal anime's dub voices and this anime's dub voices. Oak's is rather jarring but not at all bad.

Technically I don't think we know if Charmander's screams were censored or not. If Origins hasn't come out for purchase in Japan, this could be a case of them seeing the reaction online and deciding to tone it down. Could also be a case of they couldn't use the original audio, because it seems really odd that they wouldn't use the Pokemon sounds.

He just seemed more incompetent than I thought he would be. His victory with Brock seemed less like him showing that he's more clever than people think and more just blind luck. It didn't really seem like a good turnabout especially since Brock was just feeding Red all the answers without Red figuring it out for himself.

Obviously Red's going to get better because that's the point of the show, but he just seemed more hopeless than Red in the comics for example, and even Red in the comics made mistakes. You just knew Red had it in him in the comics, but anime Red wasn't convincing at all for the first episode. Guess it will change?

Not sure if this is the reason, but I think sometimes the voices are all on a single track, so if they redub one, they have to do them all. Pretty sure that's why most dubs dub mascot characters, actually.

Don't ask me how Pikachu's original voice gets into anime dubs, I have no idea.

Couldn't make it through the whole thing as my connection is being a bitch about video streaming lately, and the quality of the video was so horrible and compressed. I really hope that it's rereleased later in better quality.

Like what I did see so far, but Red and Blue sound a little older than I'd expect, and it seemed unnecessary to cut Charmander's pained screeching.

I watched the dub. It was a very good dub.. The acting wasn't completely cringeworthy like most anime dubs are.
