At most, watch the gym battles and the Silver Conference. The Battles against Gary and Harrison are the only good parts of those entire three seasons.

Like any romantic subplot in an anime, The writers will drag it out for the entire run of the saga, as well as whether or not something actually happens or not in the end. Could go either way, really.

Shippy episodes will be sprinkled here and there, but not every single episode will contain moments between Ash and Serena. I'm not looking forward to the bitching every time nothing happens.

We can expect some moments next week, but after that, I don't expect another AshxSerena moment until the Furfrou manor fireworks.

I'll be honest, I used to be a rather crazy shipperfag back in the day with the Ash and Misty thing going on. Stuff like Maiden's Peak, the Tower of Terror and the entirety of the Orange Islands had me sated and satisfied. Moreso when Pokemon the Movie 2000 gave me a raging shipper-boner. That was fucking glorious.

But as years passed, I dropped the whole thing and it's just... well, that I guess. Serena's inclusion seem to wake up that old shipperfag in me and it's giving me some nostalgic feelings here and there and I'm enjoying what I see. I doubt it'll be a major focus and I don't think any serious romance will happen but as far as I'm seeing, I'll enjoy the ride and giggle at the d'aww-moments and shit like a faggot.

Wonder what the X/Y movie will be...

Personally, I didn't hit "full shipper mode" until Advanced Generation. I was fine with AshxMisty growing up, until I found out the dub added the majority of the hints that weren't there originally.

I will agree with you that I don't expect anything to happen in the end. Romance is nice, but it's still Pokemon; a kids show. I'm just enjoying the ride.

The highest point so far was Pikachu getting his shit slapped by a Surskit that used the same ice field strategy Brandon's Regice used. Other than that,it's the same old shit as before. You could watch the fillers from Diamond and Pearl and find more to be interested in.

The majority feel it's off to a good start. Clemont and Bonnie are both likeable, and their running gag is a breath of fresh air, even if it IS the reverse of Brock's gag.

Serena is a mixed bag. She's the only female lead without an actual goal (yet anyway), and only seems to be on her journey for Ash. I'm optimistic though and am curious to see how her character develops.

Ash seems to be back to being fairly competent trainer, to the point that it feels like Unova never happened. His Froakie and Fletchling are top tier as well.

Overall, it's off to an interesting start. Let's just hope Japan stays free of natural disasters.
