Mega Blastoise

I want to run a full-on special attacking Mega Blastoise with Water Pulse, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, and Dragon Pulse.

Is this a good idea or am I really gimping myself by not running one of the more powerful Megas?

You should be fine, but you might want to consider playing more to the tune of its Defenses with a recovery move.

I have one just as you mentioned OP, he is really fun but not the scariest of Megas.

His subpar speed puts him in an akward spot, not quite slow enough to fully utilize trick room.

Another interesting factor to consider is, is Dragon Pulse worth keeping just because of Megalauncher?
The correct answer is to drop it for Icebeam for more direct coverage, plus most dragons are 2X weak to Ice anyways.

Yeah I'm kind of torn on that. On one hand, you're right, Ice Beam will do more damage to Dragonite, Garchomp, Salamence, and lolFlygon. But Dragon Pulse should KO all of those except for Dragonite, I'd wager, as well as take down Charizard X.

Blastoise only gets Rest. And Aqua Ring.

Should also note I'm going Modest with HP/SpA.

The set I run is:
252 HP, 252 Sp. Attack
Water Pulse
Dark Pulse
Ice Beam
Rapid Spin

What makes him so good as a spinner is that he can beat ghosts (spin blockers) with dark pulse, including Mega Gengar. Water Pulse is just as strong as surf with possibility of confuse hax. Ice Beam's not as strong as Dragon Pulse, but has more SE coverage.

I think I'm going to use something else for Rapid Spin/Defog. Blastoise can make really good use of Aura Sphere, IMO, with Ferrothorn, M-Kangaskhan, Greninja, Tyranitar, and Lucario running around.
