Zippers the Bannette lead them deeper into the fog towards the shack, the new headquarters for whatever the returning field agent and Steve were. The owner of the hovel was marching ahead with purpose, she was finally home! She turned to her companion and grabbed his hand and started to run, she couldn't wait to get inside!

The first time trying to open the door was unsuccessful, it had been closed for four years after all. A swift kick to the handle unstuck it and a flurry of dust escaped into the wild. Coughing, but still with a big grin on her face she let go of Steve and reached to flip the light switch, willing the electricity to still work. Previously, Mike and the Black Mage ventured into the Distortion World in order to sneak into terrorist-occupied Sootopolis. Now under the control of odd glitchy rejects from pre-creation, the Distortion World is slowly being reshaped as they steal material from the mortal realm.

Not long after entering, Mage and Mike saw a massive swarm of tiny purple creatures rapidly approaching the floating island they were on. Mage wasted no time in jumping off the edge to run away, leaving Mike to fight or flee on his own.

Considering Mike had no idea what the hell that was, he joined the Mage in the thinking that running was the best option. He'd gotten used to the subjective gravity by now, but who knew what the hell that swarm was. It sounded like Hell itself had risen up to corrupt the world... or something. For all he knew it was.

Landing on an 'island' that was at an appropriate angle, Mike found this one to be only about the size of a car. There was a single birch tree in the center, and it was otherwise a featureless cube. It wasn't difficult to spot BM once Mike looked. The wizard was lying flat against the bottom of the island they had jumped off of. Apparently BM had decided to hide there while the swarm passed.

It looked like he wasn't the only one out for one last surf, the city was emptying out as the days grew cooler, less and less people on the beaches, less and less customers for the shops, things were winding down but at least it gave him plenty of freedom without having to worry about running into any swimmers.

Kahuna examined Holland with cold but not oblivious eyes for just a moment before powering off into the deep ocean to spend the fall and winter among his own. Holland let the current drift him back to the shallow water before picking up his board and heading back to his quarters.

As the group flipped around to the other side of the island, they found several patches of empty dirt where the blocks with grass had been removed. Four purple blocks were floating around the patches, and seemed to be seeding more grass.

Samus and Cassandra charged forward, but the things rapidly moved out of the way. They made agitated metallic noises, and rushed at their attackers.

As he headed towards his quarters he could only spot the passing arc of the light house shining over the waves until he once again made his way back into the base itself.

The ending of summer had also changed things in the base, much of their traffic had also been towards selling pokemon to tourists, with tourist season ending however things were slowly settling down. Which on the down side meant there were a lot more people stuck on base than when they were all out and about.

The combo attack had failed miserably, both swings going wide. This meant they were open to counterattacks, and took them hard. The rocks were dodged easily by the tiny targets, but the distraction allowed Mike's Pokemon to get past the enemy's maneuvering. Two of the creatures were struck, but barely seemed to move. They just sort of paused and hung motionless in the air. Presumably, they were knocked out.
The remaining two released a large wave of water in all directions, spawning it from apparently nowhere. The attack seemed spectacularly weak, however.

Fortunately, these things didn't seem very tough. They were paused in the air by the attacks, just as the other two had been. The clanging sounds were silenced, and everything was quiet except for the group's breathing.
