>>15973285What's your proposed "better way of doing things"?
No, really, I'm genuinely interested.
Not just in your methods, but also what you hope to achieve with them. How would your proposed metagame differ from Smogon's? People have tried making their own metagames before - PO's official server had different rules, iirc - and they almost always end up looking exactly like Smogon's, making the effort involved in developing them pointless. And as flawed as the Smogon processes are, the ultimate decisions are rarely the wrong ones.
All Smogon really needs is more transparency, like in the late Gen IV days. Where they had public suspect tests and all you had to be involved was do well enough on the ladder to prove your opinion was well informed. Where every decision was talked about openly and well justified before being implemented. It got muddier and muddier over time (like, eventually people who hit the Rating necessary to vote also had to submit a one-paragraph application or some shit which would be approved/not approved by the mods), and eventually became the "Let's ban Blaziken because a few of the higher ups don't like it" mess of a few days ago. Apart from that stuff, nothing much really needs to change. The Smogon metagame is as close as we can realistically get to a balanced 6v6 environment.
