Get the following games:

1)Yellow- Play this first; it's going to be the most fun you'll have on a pokemon game.
2)Fire Red/Leaf Green- Basically the same thing, get whatever you want. This remake is the second best thing you'll play.
3)Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald- Get this for one reason: To spit on it and throw it out. This generation was the biggest blunder of the century.

Pick whoever you want, it really doesn't matter who you start with, they are all decent pokemon in-game and there are over 400+ pokemon you can have in this game alone, just go on an adventure and make some fun, blind choices.
