Seems that in Japan tournaments pokemon from V gen will be banned.

There is a possibility of getting them banned for online battles. How do you feel about that?

The first couple of tournaments are always restricted to Pokemon only available in the newest region. This is nothing new.

There's no chance of them getting banned in online battles.

This. You gotta be retarded to think they will ban them from use online outside of tournaments. People get mad at genners but do not realize they are a speck of the community. What do you think will happen when the casual and rest of the players try to bring in unobtainable pokes like Cofagrigus and see they cannot use them online? By that logic everything we do now is pointless because we can't use it in gen 7.

Collateral damage is necessary for the health of the game and for the playing field to be evened out. Not everyone has the option of going back a few gens to breed/tutor/tm the perfect competitive mon. Limiting it to gen 6 means everyone is finally playing with the same set of tools.

I don't care at all. All i'm using pokebank for is for transferring event legendaries and pokemon not available in X/Y for the sake of completing the pokedex. For online play, i have my new bros and i'm satfisfied as that.

While I would agree that stop like that would be good, before they do something so dramatic they really should go through each and every pokemon and sort out their move pools. There are many pokemon who are complete SHIT without things from move tutors, and not being able to use any of those moves really ruins their viability.

Their stat increases were a step in the right direction but they really have to do more. I know 718 pokemon is a lot to go through (less if you only change final evolutions) but it's sorely needed if they really want to help promote more viability.

For example while dragons did need a nerf and fairies weren't a bad idea, the problem with dragons wasn't just their type -- it was how all of them had fantastic move pools, high BSTs (many 600), and great stat distribution. Very few dragon "counters" had all of those traits. Why do you think everyone used ferrothorn and heatran in the past?

Pokemon is a casual game first and foremost, they won't put a wall of restrictions just so a small niche of script kiddies can't use their Pokemon or appease an even smaller niche of breeders who have a lot of spare time

Move tutors need to come back to stay. It was gamefreak's mistake/stupidity/greed to leave them out this gen.

They should automatically delete the movetutor moves of gen v pokes when they transfer and then introduce a new move tutor in gen 6 to even up the playing field and rebalance the game.

Mew is always on the banlist. If it didn't come from gen 6, it isn't allowed. (Ie you can bank up a Charizard and breed it to get one eligible for the tourney).

Pokemon obtained directly from bank will be banned from specific tournaments, while they'll be allowed elsewhere such as random online/trading. They've done similar things in the past when the older gens were new.

And for those saying you can just breed, while that's true for most Pokemon, the same can't be said for legendaries. "Just wait for an event." you say? I don't know about you, but I'm not particularly fond of waiting a year or two just to be able to use something again that I should've been able to in the first place.

I didn't experience it first hand but I witnessed it.
I watched my younger brother play W2.
His opponent was at his/her last Pokemon and it was a shiny Volcarona, my brother was down to his last 2 and some how that Volcarona was able to knock down his Dragonite and Luxray within one shot even though all of them was a full HP.

If you can breed the hacked mons why ban them? Hack 2 and breed them with destiny knot/everstone and BAM, 5IV pokemon minimum. The only thing it does is fuck with hidden power. Breeders will still complain because you're not going through the hassle of doing everything AND you're still needing 5IV+ perfect pokemon to compete, genners will complain because it's such a minor annoyance it's a waste of time.

Congrats! you came up with a system that does nothing but piss off everyone!

No, it isn't. Gen 4, Gen 5, you were only allowed to use Pokemon in the regional dex in early tournaments. Here you can use any Pokemon at all, assuming it has the blue pentagon, which designates it's both legitimate and generated in Gen 6.

First of all, The Pokemon Company (or whoever writes these things) are notorious for not spelling things out 100% - that could easily be construed as meaning, the Pokemon is ok to use, in the upcoming tournament. I like how you left that part out.

Also, first response to this thread explains how in the past, we couldn't use transferred mons in the first official tournament of the generation. This isn't new at all.

Banked Pokemon, at least for now, can't be used in tournaments.

However, it says nothing about them being able to be used online over Wi-Fi. Whether they actually can or not is still academic.

It's still not 100% confirmed. We'll have to wait until Christmas. And, if old Pokemon are indeed banned, I know what I won't be paying for - how could I possibly lose? Breeding is hella easy.

The fact that the rules were only in relation to the Dragon tournament (they didn't mention all of online, or future tournaments) leads me to believe they are specific to the Dragon tournament, in which case everything else won't discriminate by region. Which would be the only rational thing for them to do. They can't charge us and then require us to breed our Pokemon if we want to play in official things like the goddamn VGCs. Because you're right, they'd lose money otherwise.

Regardless of what current translations are implying, it doesn't make sense for this ban idea to be the case. Region markers are far more likely that "hack checkers."
