Because it got buffed in the sense that it removes hazards on your side of the field now. It still removes the hazards that you set up of course. The reason people were excited about it was because the number of Pokemon that can get rid of hazards increased, making hazards not as centralizing.

I'm not really seeing what makes Defog so useful. Sure, it gets rid of hazards on your side of the field, but it still gets rid of your own hazards, and most people (including myself) rely on hazard damage as part of their strategy.

You're still better off with Rapid Spin, or just keeping the hazards from being set up in the first place.

It means people who don't rely on hazards can have more pokemon that can remove them/ can't be spinblocked by people REALLY relying on them.

Things like Scizor and Flyon, who take almost nothing from them, helps with hazard removers switching in too
