Back when these threads were just getting started, one of the regulars, Too Many Mareeps began MM'ing for one, and soon enough, that shiny seemed to pop up everywhere except for Too Many Mareeps, who is still looking for his. They're cute as all hell, and sort of became a recurring joke when some poor soul found two in the same horde, so Shiny Mareep ended up being a motif for these threads.

I recently restarted my game to play through in French instead of english, to help some friends with masuda-ing.

I'm still playing through the game atm. I traded over a ton of stuff with nice IVs to a friend to hold onto, once I'm done the league I'll grab em all back and can start breedan and tradan again.

Will get back to a general with 5x smeargles, inkays, gale wing fletchlings etc. eventually.

A game's region is set at the start of the game right? So if I change my 3DS to something foreign, it will still be english in my Y game, but if I start a new game with the 3DS region changed, it will be a different region, even if I set the 3DS back to english afterwards?

I'm thinking whenever Z comes out, I'll go with a different region for it

The foreign tag is language based. I've got Y in english, X in spanish. Y is set to my actual region, X is set to saudi arabia. Traded pokemon have the SPA tag.

I seem to have terrible luck with chaining. I've tried a few times but I always end up picking a grass patch that gives me a pokemon that isn't my chain. I'm not sure if I just can't pick them or if the game is being a pain or what is going on.

I've got a theory. The more you want a pokemon to be shiny, the less chance it will be. Whether its because you pay attention to each and every encounter, or you await the hatching of the egg more is likely the case, I say fuck that. Game freak has engineered thought reading technology, for which the 3ds scans your desires and inputs the exact opposite. Fuck you Game Freak.

I've chained 4 shinies. Start in the heaviest shaking patch type ONLY, and only go into those from then on. They should be the farthest patch away, particulairly 4, though I've had 3 be safe.

Anyone know the percentage of a pokemon in a horde having it's hidden ability? I've found something more time consuming than MMing possibly in attempting to get a shiny, harvest, Trevenant via sweet scent.

2.) Breed until Female offspring with Gooey and desired IVs and nature

Possible 31/xx/31/31/31/31 offspring with Modest and Gooey in a Heal Ball when finished breeding the two together

Final offspring needs to be Female for ability pass-down rate

When I'm chaining, sometimes I don't get a good patch. I walk 50 steps and then restart my radar. Every once in a while, nothing shakes and the music returns to normal.

Why does this happen? My chain breaks for absolutely no reason.

I'm starting from the early routes up and decided to aim for a Skitty since it's shiny looks nice. (Well in sprite form) Most I've gotten is like... 5 in a row before a flebe or combee ruins it.

May skip it though since the area it's found is doesn't really have large grass patches. Hell, maybe I'll just find a foreign ditto and try hatching one.

I haven't physically seen a shiny appear in a while. Every time I find one happens to be when I have one last wild encounter before I lose concentration and completely stop paying attention to the 3ds and instead focus on watching whatever I'm watching. Then I look back at my ds several minutes later and have a shiny on the screen. It's happened 3 times in a row. weird shit.

But after having the chain break so many times I said "fuck it".

Shiny patch was in the yellow area (I was standing in the blue area at the time) so I figured it was yellow but it came out white thankfully.

If you don't care about IVs and just want it speedy, why not chain it or find a kirlia friend safari? They're far faster as far as shinies are concerned and at least in the safaris you're guaranteed two perfect IVs without even trying.

I posted that a while ago and got up to 22 boxes of furfrou and gave up. Some time later I did honedge and told Masuda to give me a break after that horrible furfrou experience.

2nd box contained my honedge, so don't give up friends. I found the rest of my party on the GTS but I don't know if I want to MM them for perfect stats, I'm afraid of a furfrou repeat... very scared....
