I thought Weedle was a Pokemon you could only meet once (the manual mentions there are such Pokemon. It does not mention they're Pokemon you find on the map itself), since I failed to catch it the first time I met one, and couldn't find another no matter how hard I looked.

When I was playing Red, I got my Charmeleon and used up all his PP. I guess, up to that point, I always ended up going to a Pok?mon Center before that happened, so when I saw he lost all his moves, I freaked out and started over, because I thought you couldn't get them back.

I was trapped in my starting house in blue for 3 hours back in 98 because I thought I had to push A to open my front door or my mom had to let me out.
I spent those three hours running around in that house, checking every floor, every wall just spamming A.
after that I cried to sleep because I didnt want to tell my dad I had a broken game.
When I woke up I thought I should just try to walk through the walls and the first one I tried led me outside.

You know the silph scope building? You know, when you're supposed to get the master ball and all those teleporting tiles? Well, the last tile you use before you head to Giovani, you're supposed to step on it and then move forward. I assumed if I stepped on it that I had to go back and there was no forward. I never beat that until the second generation...well after I beat that, too. I was completely and utterly stuck on the game.

Gen 1, you had to give him a drink from the drinks machine, and the little girl by the machine gave you three hilariously overpowered moves (Ice Beam, for fucks sake) in exchange for the drinks.

In Gen1 there were grass fields outside Route 1. I firmly believed that was the place where Prof. Oak caught the starters.

Also, the four grass patches in Pallet Town, just before Route 1. I thought some really really rare pokémon is hiding in there, so rare that it would take a shitload of time to find. I ran there in very small circles for a really long time. It made me sad.
