Basically an anti-Smogon. Any strategies or gimmicks you use that don't necessarily fit in with how people usually use that Pok?mon?

The best "strategy" is just to use a non-OU pokemon. They usually have no idea what it can do, how fast it is, etc. and are unable to make informed strategic decisions.

I had a mixed attacker Torkoal on my Gen V mono-fire team. It was mainly there for rapid spin, but with Shell Armor and maxed defenses it was pretty great. Gave it leftovers and will-o-wisp (plus overheat and earthquake). It was a cool dude.

I had a phasing team once
Basically set up rocks, pebbles and toxic spikes if possible
then just throw something bulky with high speed, rest, sleep talk, roar/whirlwind
Priority whirlwind because of high speed and sleep talk.

this is why my toxic/recover/stockpile/scald gastro sweeps so many of them

they don't understand, if they don't get a grass move out immediately they will not be able to kill gastro at all
I just have to eliminate steels, grass pokemon, tentacruel, and anyone that could use toxic on gastro. if those things are gone it's a straight sweep.

Went against a Klefki with Lanturn the other day. I parafused the little asshole and let it get a taste of its own medicine.

My Drifblim is currently running Calm Mind, Petaya and Unburden. It's not very reliable though, most stuff that hit hard either OHKO or bring it to 30-40%, so the next hit would KO it before it can consume the berry. It can pull off the combo against special attackers occasionally if the Calm Mind increases its SpD enough to tank the next hit and consume the berry.

I;ve been using Scarf Malamar with Infiltrator to defeat Ho-Oh, since the rest of my team can't really touch it. Switcharoo or Rock Slide is usually enough to fuck it up.

Also, Klefki seems to be the closest thing to a hard counter for Power Herb Xerneas. Thunder Wave it and it becomes totally useless.

I ran an Eelektross on Black that laughed at anything physical.

- Coil
- Crunch
- Wild Charge
- Dragon Claw

Coil + bulk investment + defense nature made physical attacks tickle. Attack gain from coil was also nice. I managed to coil twice on a Dragonite that was doing fuckall once and OHKO'd it with Dragon Claw. I have a friend that ran a similar set but used Thunder instead of Wild Charge because coil also increases accuracy. I was originally do that but spec attack IVs were shit

Not super original because I'm sure there's a coil set on Smogon somewhere, and anything special can usual 2HKO it, but she was fun for what she was worth.

Smogon doesn't recommend that EXACT set. Spread/natures/moves are different.

plus no one uses/expects eelektross. Nor do they know enough about him to not use earthquake. I can't count the times that's happened.

Max special defense allows him to tank a Politoed's ice beam, and recover almost all of it back between leftovers, rain healing, and leech seed. Excellent rain team counter in Gen V.

But depending on how Gen VI progresses, I may switch that out for max physical defense and effect spore to be a Breloom counter if my Banette is already Mega evolved.

Lvl 1 Aron

Ability: Sturdy

Held Item: Shell Bell

Moveset: Endeavor is the only one that matters

Precede him with a Pokemon that can generate a sandstorm before being knocked out then out comes the Aron.

Opponent attacks, taking the Aron down to one HP. Aron uses endeavor to bring the opponent down to one HP, opponent is knocked out by sandstorm and the Shell Bell restores Aron to full health.

Strategy falls apart against rock, ground, steel and ghost types. Moves that steal or swap items can strip the Shell Bell from him and eliminate that advantage.

This set is kind of hilarious. It's basically my talonflame /charizard Y counter. With that denfense investment, he can survive 1 air slash from Charizard Y, and return with rock tomb. Rocktomb lowers Charizard's speed, and so far I've been able to outspeed and hit him with another rock tomb, which kills. If they switch, something else gets slowed down. Wisp makes him even bulkier, but I might switch that out for hone claws/sucker punch after more experimentation.

It works out pretty well for me, yeah.
I used this team last generation, so I have done a lot of work setting everything up to synergize, and I've gotten very familiar with how to use all of my Pokemon. Gen VI made it even better with the buffs to Exploud and Banette.

I think a lot of its power came from underestimating the poke itself. I've made a few people ragequit, but they were probably Literally Children because you don't need much luck to shit all over me in competitive play haha.

I run a rather defensive team and my defensive core is Skarmory + Gastro. Gastro soaks Special attacks obviously, it's a good duo that works well together and they cover each other's weaknesses very well. I have an Assault Vest Goodra as well on my team because I like to keep Gastro fresh, and Goodra can absorb RIDICULOUS spec attacks and threaten with draco meteor.

Anyway,
CONDITIONS FOR A GASTRODON STALL-OUT;
*make sure that nothing can cast toxic or paralyze on Gastro - burn is also annoying
*boosting steel types like Aegislash are annoying but can be killed - however you must land the burn with Scald
*make sure he has no ridiculous boosters, this is why Aegislash is a problem. Stockpile only goes up to +3/+3 defenses,
whereas calm mind boosters can go up to +6 offenses. However I'm pretty sure they won't have time to do this if they are toxic'ed
*Pokemon with Rest are a problem and cannot be killed by Gastro without a PP stall out war.
*be careful not to scald a water pokemon or any pokemon that can recover.
*kill all tentacruels
*kill leech seeders like gourgeist and trevenant

If you design the rest of your team to fuck these mentioned pokemon up then Gastro will do the rest of the work, but you especially have to look out for *physical* grass moves

This is my trapper lead set. Shuckle takes very litte damage from virtually any neutral attack to start with, and can tank through at least one unboosted super-effective one no problem. After you use Power Split, and the opponent's attacking stats are averaged out with Shuckle's virtually nonexistant attacking stats, that damage drops off to next to nothing. The idea is to do that after you've trapped the opponent with Infestation. If you've got a Power Split off, and Infestation is active, the opposing Pokémon is essentially condemned to a slow death from passive damage while you leisurely set up Sticky Web. Obviously it doesn't work on ghosts, and you're total taunt bait otherwise, so you have to construct your team wisely (I found that Mandibuzz is an ideal partner.)

Overcoat got buffed. It offers immunity to Powder-based moves such as Spore in the same way Grass-types and pokes holding Safety Goggles are, in addition to offering immunity to hail and sandstorm damage. She completely shits over any Smeargle that you're ever going to see as a result.

That's not a bad idea, but I just don't have room for it on the moveset. Plus, I like having Sturdy, because it allows you to get in a guaranteed Power Split in the worst case scenario against a runaway boosted sweeper, and then switch to Quagsire to take care of it.

It does when it has paper defenses, and relying on luck is not good. Plus 5 chances to flinch with a 10% rate is going to be around a 40‰ chance. Compare that to togekiss who has a 60‰ chance and the bulk to take a hit or two if flinchax fails.

Prankster Meowstic with Trick, Yawn and Protect. I don't give a fuck about Smogon rules in the Wifi, so I lead with him. People try to set up, I use Trick and give them a choice item. If they stay, they'll be asleep, if they switch, I Yawn again followed by Protect and they now have one asleep. Repeat until they do something different. It's 50/50 between failing and hilariously working, so I'd say worth.

I quit competitive Pokémon a year ago due to work/college schedule getting tougher, but I'll return soon.

Here's something I used to use:

>Sludge Bomb
>Hidden Power FIRE

HP Fire was my special strategy. It was amazing when my opponent tossed Scizors in (by that time, they were the most popular OU mons) and I used it.

Also worked on Brelooms, Skarmories etc.
I also packed a Jolteon with HP Grass (Swampert!), a offensive Skarmory (high atk EVs + Brave Bird) and some stuff like that.

Sableye probably not so much now that there's fairy but when I used Whimsicott last gen I could just feel the rage from people who's Volcarona after five encores of quiver dance still couldn't outspeed Whimsicott.

I hope Sleep powder is a move that Whimsicott gets from breeding this gen.

Some guy I fought on WiFi had a Pikachu that he used Nuzzle + Electro Ball with. I was expecting a physical attacker with Volt Tackle like every other Pikachu I've ever fought, so it caught me off guard and I lost a Pokemon to it.

His Lapras also had fucking Quick Claw, which activated all three turns it was alive. Couldn't do shit to my Assault Vest Goodra either way.

Send it out first. If the enemy's a good match for some offence, use an attack. If it isn't, use Stealth Rock and switch out to convince the enemy that your Sandslash isn't Scarf'd. Or alternatively, just switch out if you didn't give it Stealth Rock.

I have outrun Aerodactyls with this thing on Wi-Fi before and OHKO'd them.

Sounds alright on paper, but is it really worth a moveslot on a sweeper to induce a status that incurs no penalties besides a chance of not moving AND ends when either pokemon switches? I mean, I like it, but I don't think it's really practical.

You're right, but the smart guys knew it wasn't worth it to stay in with the scarf. They usually switched to save it as a suicide poke. The guys that tried attacking couldn't OHKO lopunny anyways so win/win for me.
