Yeah, it's weird. Gens II through V, I saw one shiny ever. In X/Y, I saw one before even the second badge, and two since then.

Apparently the shiny rate is ~doubled or something.

Something like Personality values of 1-5 out of 10000 or something used to be shiny, now 1-10 are shiny.

And then stuff like increased chance of shiny in Friend Safari, chain fishing, pokeradar, Masuda Method still existing, etc.
It's really easy to get shinies now.
