Gamefreak is like that friend you had in high school who was really cool but then turned to hanging around with the bad crowd and smoking pot.

Then you meet him again at a high school reunion, long since forgotten, and he tries to "chum it up" with you and reminisce about the good old days.

You clearly show disdain for him, and he starts trying to prove to you that he's still the same old kid he used to be, even though he clearly isn't.
