I'd prefer Latios and Latias both be banned but if they had soul dew they'd be even more stupidly broken.

Eviolite isn't broken at all, in fact it encourages use of NFEs and gives the meta more variety (unless you're playing little cup, then fuck that)

OP here, I really only brought up Evolite because that's an item that's banned from Wifi and such.

It just depressed me a little because I was raising a Simple Swoobat with Double Team and Stored Power, and a Moody Glalie. You would think they would use the normal VGC with it, especially with kids playing.

It's not though, any decent Physical attack can still take it down without too much trouble. Even then it's easy to set up on it. It's seriously not any harder than walls like Gliscor, Skarmory and Blissey. It's even easier to deal with now that knock off got a buff.

the real issues with smogon are that they still haven't banned genesect from OU

and, to be perfectly honest? Rotom W currently has no counters and is a monster thanks to the WoW buff. Things can wall Rotom, but almost nothing can trap it nor outspeed it for a KO.

Every team either runs Rotom W or has multiple pokemon just to deal with it

I think Rotom W should be moved to ubers, its just as good as genesect at this point

The only point you MIGHT have is the speed boost chicken because it's a new gen, but forcing everybody to run talonflame or azumarril doesn't really solve the problem.

You have to ask the reverse question. What can a special grass type do against rotom W?

They can't trap it.
They'll take ~20% damage from a volt turn if they switch into it.
They'll get burned by WoW on a switch in, and they either won't outspeed rotom for a volt turn, OR if they do outspeed it (Celebi or Seviper), the rotom player will just normally switch into something that fucks over your grass type

rotom w is impossibly hard to kill

on the switch, rotom W's other option is to use WoW and now your virizion is fucked

mold breaker mons destroy it
celebi blissey or chansey can make rotom-w pretty much useless and all have natural cure, so they dont mind the burn
terrakion can ohko with close combat as well and im pretty sure mega lucario can as well and definitely after stealth rock damage

Gastrodon. You can't pull the volt switch arguement here since it is ground type. It has storm drain. It has recover for burn. Yes your afraid of trick, but literally any non choiced pokemon is. You can run specs and blast something on the switch or run bulky and use toxic or pull a double switch. Alternative to that is poison heal breloom. It's still susceptible to volt switching to counters, but it can't be burnt and resists dual stabs. Also, if rotom doesn't immediately volt switch out on the turn breloom switches in, you can sub and spore to pull momentum in your favor.
Inb4 someone picks apart my arguement. I'm just offering suggestions. Not calling you out or anything. Undoubtedly rotom is a very powerful pokemon.

Rotom-W is like Heatran. Intensely anti-metagame, but still very manageable. Grass-types are your main counter.

Also, I love baiting Rotom-W with Togekiss with a bulky LO-set and outspeeding it for a 2HKO with Dazzling Gleam.

It's bulk is actually very average with only 50 base hp and slightly above base 100 defenses. It's definitely good and can wall a quiet a few pokes, but it can't switch in very well on powerful neutral hits. The big thing about rotom is its capability to volt switch to potentially mitigate any counters and its good stab coverage. It can fall short however since it has truly middling speed without scarf, and has no real wall breaking/ boosting options. No reliable recovery really hurts too for a bulky wall rotom.
Tl:dr
It's not über since its bulk is nothing obscene, its special attack isn't monstrous, and its speed is middling. No recovery hurts it a bit too.
Jack of all trades, master of little.

Will O Wisp now misses 33% less. That's almost half. It is now extremely reliable and rarely misses.

mold breaker? Excadrill is one shot by hydro pump and fucked by WoW on a switch in. Gyarados cannot safely switch in to rotom w under any circumstances, even if Mega Evolved

And I'm not going to start running Lum Berry Haxorous

Terrakion will oneshot with close combat BUT it dies in one hit to a scarfed rotoms pump, or gets fucked over by WoW on a switch

Mega Lucario is fucked over by burn on a switch, if rotom doesnt volt turn away

there are things that can beat Rotom W 1on1, sure. But the problem is that rarely happens. You usually are switching in to Rotom W, and the combination of Volt Switch / WoW means that he can easily escape or neutralize his "counters"

You're missing the point. None of those pokemon outspeed rotom w. They can't kill it.

There's a 100% chance that if you switch in these pokemon into Rotom, he is either volt turning away or using WoW. WoW will fuck over Chestnaught and volt turn will allow Rotom to switch into the inevitable talonflame / aegislash / genesect that will brutally rape venusaur or amoongus

people don't get that volt turn / wow is the issue. Sure, on paper many things can "beat" rotom w if you both lead with it and cant switch out. But that never happens

look at the top players and look at the teams they use. I'm only 1800 ELO and I see a hell of a lot of Rotom W, less so Gengar. I bet it is the opposite with shitty players

and of course this just makes sense. Rotom W is really good and will be on good teams. Gengar is somewhat of a gimmick that I'm sure dominates the shit players because they just mash their face against the keyboard

and you're assuming everyone who uses rotom can predict every single move you make
scarfing excadrill isnt even a bad idea if you want to counter rotom, especially with the sand nerf
if a rotom is choiced you're fucked over by gastrodon every time
and rotom is slow as hell and only around 25% are choiced while 40% or so are lefties
or you could use a wall breaker like band terrakion or specs latios (assuming your opponent has no fairies) or if you're really bothered by rotom you can run a grass coverage move on something thats faster
and not everything with no counters is uber, hydreigon has no counters because nothing can reliably switch in
