But in all seriousness, Its a decent bulky grass type with alot of good offensive and utility options along with a good defensive typing. Its pretty solid. Ability is okay but too situational

However the OU metagame isn't very kind to him due to Talonflame being a shit to him. He can work well with alot OU mons and counter/wall some of them however there are better choices than him. He'll be better in UU cause no Taloneflame is gonna get on his ass.

I think he's badass. No, seriously. He's one of the best final Grass evos since Sceptile. And I picked Froakie.

What I like is that he's appropriate to Chespin's design philosophy - and it's also subtle. For years now Grass starters have been QUICK PUT A SHRUB OR SOMETHING ON ITS BACK. A Grass Pokemon doesn't literally need a tree sprouting from its ass for people to understand what it is. Venusaur was justified because "It's a mystery!" but that shit don't fly with Flower Diplodocus and Treebutt the Gecko.

Chesnaught is amazing, favourite Gen 6 Pokemon and has quickly shot up to one of my favourites period. I love the design and the idea they went with, and he's somehow badass and adorable at the same time.

He's also Fighting type, which makes him even more cool.

His goofy smile in Pokemon Amie is all kinds of cute, too.

He'd look leagues better with a thicker body to compliment the shape and size of his shell. I suppose one could say he fits in there if curled up but when do we ever see that to begin with? I think he'd also benefit from his hand-shields being actually built into his design somehow instead of just morphing into existence whenever he uses them.
That having been said he's my favorite of the Kalos starters.

I think a lot of people don't seem to realize just how hard Talonflame hits him on full hp/def.

Chesnaught doesn't really fear talonflame if he can setup once with bulk up...

The rest of his weaknesses aren't really an issue with Bulk up as long as you keep it away from special attackers.

Also guys...he does get Pain Split.

Ferrothorn is commonly used very defensively, because you want them to hit you/you want to stall them. Chestnaught has a bit of an offensive edge, both his ability and special move nullify damage. He'd be a bit like Aggron in that regard.

If he was Grass/Steel Greninja can't do shit against it thus keeping the Grass > Water theme.

Delphox can easily beat Chesnaught with fire still keeping the Fire> Grass motive

Greninja being a Water/Dark easily takes out Delphox with both stabs. Thus Water > Fire

I mean I know gamefreak is ass at balancing but I would've preferred it to be this way

You can't really use the STAB changes defensively either, unless you want to hit not hard just so you don't get OHKO'd.

He's pretty okay tho.

I'd put all three in UU. Delphox isn't that bad, and Greninja's/Chesnaught's abilities/stats/typings allow them to perform favorably in OU.

also you can't really compared the two considering one is supposed to be offensive and one is a tank/supporter. They just share the same typing but have completely different roles that can satisfy any team if you work with them.

Most would just use Breloom though due to the very offensive metagame nowadays though

Why is he fighting if they're going to give him super limited fighting moves? I mean, looking at him I know he's not going to get high jump kick or mach punch. But I think he's choices are either power-up punch, low sweep, or hammer arm. And his only fighting egg move is defensive. I'm hoping he'll get close combat later on, but who knows.

The idea was okay, and I want to like it, but god damn this fucker is ugly. The shitbeard, forever extended arms, and hunched over position make it look disgusting.

It has a pretty good movepool, decent stats, and an amazing ability. Bulletproof makes it completely immune to shadow ball, which is great for any Pokemon this gen considering how strong ghosts are, even though Chestnaught can't do much to ghosts himself.
I can see it being a good UU-RU Pokemon.

At first I really didn't like it. I would call it "Gen 6's Emboar" when it was first leaked. But then I grew on to absolutely love it and it became one of my favorite grass starters along with one of my favorites among Gen 6 as a whole.
