I'm with you OP. I thought Ninetales, Mismagius and Lilligant were going to be retyped, and I hoped that for the new pokemon they would have followed the Xerneas path (majestic, royal with a strong magic-mystical vibe).
Instead we got Kirby: the type: the experience. Hopefully next generation we'll get something better(but then again, on their debut steel and dark brought great pokemon)

The only dragon that was "hurt" from the indroduction of faity-types was Salamence, who was only good for late game cleaning in bw and is still the same for XY. Hydreigon can just U-turn out of them like iy did against Chansey and Blissey pre BW2.

Skarmory stops Outrage spam better while getting Spikes up, roosting the damage, and whirlwind them if they try to get greedy. Fairy only works for Outrage if they are locked in it after killing something, but revenge killers like Scizor and Mamoswine already exploited that.

Bullet Punch and Flash Cannon are secondarystab for Lucario.UU and below fighting types already used Bullet Punch because priority. Stone Edge rapes Togekiss, and because most Fighting types have high attack, Stone Edge does the Trick against most of them. Bullet Seed from Breloom is a nuke agaisnt non Togekiss fairies. Keldeo is the only one slightly hurt because Fairies are mostly specially defensive, but except for Azumarill, specs Hydro Pump 2hkoes all of them. Finally, Fairies mons have terrible base defense.

Poison jab is an even bigger waste unless you are using Toxicroak or something like Drapion.

The Fairy TYPE is a fucking amazing type and you don't know shit about competitive battling if you say otherwise

Even though the Pokemon aren't top tier OU some of them are still good like M-Gardevoir, Togekiss, Azumarill, Florges and Clefable and they can do plenty against the Dragon and Fighting types they were made to nerf (Though dark took the largest hit)

The reason you aren't seeing Slyveon destorying Dragonite is because its a fucking Dragonite, all of the OU Dragons are OP Pokemon stats and movepool wise same with alot of the OU Fighting types. If a Fairy type gets introduced that has base stats like Dragonite and a movepool like Latios then Dragons will be fucked

Ran some calcs, Azumarill is literally the only thing that hard-counters Hydreigon.

Which is good, since there wasn't anything that could do the switch-on-any-move-and-live-to-kill-or-force-out waltz on Hydreigon last gen, except for the fact that there is now an entire type that resists both of Hydreigon's STABs and hits it for 400% damage in return, and it can still defeat all but one of them if it predicts correctly.

Because Garchomp and Dragonite at full HP are the only Dragons that don't get totally fucked over by the current Fairy Pokemon

Not saying the other ones do, but Garchomp and Dragonite have a much better chance against typical Fairy Pokemon like Florges, Slyveon and Azumarill than say Latios, Haxorus or Hydreigon

Latios can just use Psyshock for fairies and anything that is very bulky specially. CB Haxorus EQ or Return is actually enough to 2hko all of them and still has the option of boosting sets with something like Life Orb to OHKO all of them. I will give you Hydreigon here, but he gets U-turn to get out of them and get Scizor in safely with potential chances of setting up.

Psyshock isn't OHKO'ing the Fairy Pokemon he needs it too however, Slyveon, Azumarill and Gardevoir can eat the hit and deal a high powered Fairy OHKO attack

Same with Haxorus, its not going to be able to switch in with a Fairy in play as it has to DD to be KO anything which limits its usage alot.

OP doesn't play competitively. Fairies are very dangerous in the current meta. They DO counter dragons, they DO counter fighting, like half of them are good to use in OU, visual point is completely subjective (I like them), and they have a concept of being either mischievous or protectors (and do well fitting that theme, might I add).

Azumarill, Togekiss, M-Mawile, Sylveon, and Klefki are all great Pokemon. You forget that there are like 15 fairies total in the fucking game, every type has shitmon. Fairy moves are amazing offensively. They're resisted by pretty much only rarely used types, and give great coverage.

Lol, Scizor almost always ran CB. Two meteors would drop it. Ferrothorn's "recovery" could be blocked with a Grass type. A few Meteors would end it as well. Celebi just dies. I'll give you Jirachi, because it would wish over and over. Also, the steels could be Magnezoned, unlike Fairies.

Showdown ladder is terrible. They are most likely using it because "le epic jigglypuff walls Salamence xD" jokes or because shiny new toys.
For reference: in month 1 BW Hydreigon was top 5, Swampert was top 20, Whimsicott top 30, and things like Galvantula, Cofagrigus, and Krookodile were in OU range

WAIT UP A SECOND, what about pokemon that garachomp/salamence would normally switch into, NON FAIRY, that now can carry fairy moves or learn dazzling gleam TM?

Perhaps it's possible to predict the dragon's switch in, and fire off a dazzling gleam, maybe 2HKO, especially if it's a set that relies on dragon dance?

It has like 5% better special bulk. Sylveon is better because of the Higher HP for Wish passing and actually making use of its resists when investing in defense. Pixilate means Sylveon hits way harder too

Jigglypuff is shit though. M.Mawile is a beast, Klefki is a great utility with a wonderful typing and ability, Togekiss was always pretty good, but people just preferred Jirachi when in came to paraflinch abuse. Azumarill is good, though admittedly probably flavor of the month because its set is pretty unreliable and super predictable. Sylveon is good, it walls hard and punches great, though honestly don't expect much from it. Fairy as a type is strong, and the Pokemon have great coverage options simply because fairy hits neutral on so much that it's easy to make a moveset that can make up for whatever fairy doesn't hit well on.

There aren't many fairies, so there's not many to pick from. I've been using M.Mawile and Togekiss with great success, and both of them counter dragons very well. Any dragon that doesn't switch on them will usually get wrecked, even if they pack a super effective move. Switching in on an outrageous draconic falling star scares them off.

How is it suicide? You Outrage, hit one pokemon for huge damage. If it dies you get revenge-killed, which Scizor and Mamoswine already did. If it doesn't, you get to change to another move that will rape the fairy without even suffering from confusion or switch out to something else.

Predict the outrage, switch to Mawile. Free intimidate on them. Mawile mega swords dance, they most likely won't be able to OHKO it anyway unless they're mixed sweeper with a special attack up their sleeve. Mawile will most likely OHKO them with just sucker Punch. The setup is, of course, optional, since all it has to do is Play Rough on that turn anyway, but it's always nice to get a boost before a sure kill.

I do it quite a lot. You'd be surprised at the amount of Garchomps that think they can OHKO M.Mawile with EQ just because

Because if you KO something with Outrage, you get a Mawile SD-ing in your face followed by Sucker Punch and there's nothing you can do about it. Or Bellyjet Azumarill or Nasty Plot Togekiss or what have you.

That was discussed earlier in this thread. My conclusion was that dragons are ruined exactly because of this: the inability to be sure of doing huge damage. Dragons never before had to deal with running away without doing anything.

Fairies have a decent niche but I agree overall that they don't really do much against Physical Dragons. Special attack Dragons on the other I can see them having more trouble with Fairies with high SpD. Besides as far as I see it Ghost got the biggest buffs this gen for this very reason.

Could a max HP/SDEF invested Mega Aggron be able to handle the dargons? He gets T-Wave and Dragon Tail to handle boosters, and unmatched defense backed by Filter. His special defense is subpar, but with Filter and max investment he should be able to tank a flamethrower.

I know this isn't what you're talking about, but I think its time in OU is running out. Every Dragonite that faces my Diggersby tho has been murdered because they think they can pull off a Dragon Dance, but they never do. One attack takes out over a third of its HP, then thanks to Multiscale, the next murders it.
