But then the wottergate came, with all that delicious hype. Now we got gen6 and the hype train hasn't stopped yet.

>TLDR; Can we all agree that Sinnoh was pokémon's middle ages? It's definitely the most boring, lame and redundant generation of all.

Sinnoh was when things were getting stale, it felt aged. I'm not sure if I'm articulating it right, but it was like that awkward stepping stone between the old and the new. Sure it looked modern but it had those same..."problems" that older ones had. Which made Gen V a breath of fresh air.

I am a dual type Hoennbaby/Genwunner and I appreciate Sinnoh a lot. It definitely took the series in a fairly good direction on the DS and I love the environments.

I have to ask why on that though. Sinnoh was just a lot of caves. Yeah Hoenn had a lot of water (which wasn't that bad with repels) but it wasn't boring, and there were a lot of diverse places. I remember Fortree, the Desert area, Mt.Chimney, and Sootopolis. I barely remember the Sinnoh locations.

Hoenn didn't have that much water, anyways. It was just a few routes which happened to be large. I think overall Hoenn was more pleasant than Sinnoh, but it depends on what kind of Poke-weather you like.

It was one giant cave, really. The cities were cool, that snow route leading up to Snowpoint was nice, places like the Old Chateau, I really liked the music, and stuff like that. The Battle Zone was great too.

Let me regale you with a story of olden times. Most hoennbabbies may not know this but Pokemon as a franchise lost a shitton of steam during gen 3, I mean people still played it but R/S/E and all teh spinoffs seemed to drag on for an eternity and there just wasn't as much buzz.

People who were prime-aged for Pokemon during gen1-2 were heading into Jr.High-Highschool and even among hipsters Pokemon was NOT cool by any standards. People use to tear off the stickers on their cartridges so as not to advertise what they were playing.

Gen 4 came around the time those kids were colleged-aged, and retro nostalgia become legit hipster fuel and suddenly being a grown adult obsessed with Pokemon was "cool" again. Platinum broke record sales in its day, and 4th gen did for the DS what 6th gen is doing for the 3DS.

I like this analogy, but only because Gen V is perfect as Pokemon's "midlife crisis".
