sinnohs dex was a bit heavy with evos of previous pokemon, the legendaries in sinnoh were pretty bad in a variety of ways, and the underground was kind of fun. (emphasis on KIND OF)

Torterra looks a hell of a lot better in XY than he did in DPP, which is the last time I saw him.

Never really cared for Empoleon or Infernape though. Unova's starters are undoubtedly the worst, I don't know where that's coming from.

I don't hate Infernape but it ended my streak of fire starters. It was already one too many fire/fighting starters, even if some people like it better than Blaziken, Blaziken did it first and I hated Infernape at the time for it. I sort of regretted not using him because Sinnoh has no fire types, and I'm okay with his design but I'll always remember him as Not-Blaziken

Nothing will ever be as bad as Gen 6 starters holy shit. Serperior line kicks ass and Tepig/Pignite+Oshawott are super cute.

Meanwhile there's a gay green Bowser and flaming furbait. The only thing tolerable about that lineup is Froakie, and even then Frogadier is super bland and Greninja is acquired taste, being the least offensively stupid. What a joke.

Personally I couldn't stand the starters from Gen 4 or 5. For 6 I only liked Froakie, Gens 1 and 2 were decent to good, and Gen 3 was awesome.

Apparently Rowan and Dawn are on the S.S Anne (they are generic Gentlemen and Lass Class in it though). If they make another Kanto remake I hope I hope they retcon the shit out of that section so there are foreign Pokemon users and maybe a more solid appearance of Rowan and Dawn

It's all subjective really, you just have to accept popular opinion sometimes.

From a design standpoint I don't think there is a bad starter pokemon.

I was really dissapointed with my Serperior's performance though... Maybe I just got a terrible nature and IV spread though. I never got into that stuff until this gen.
