There is an indipendent italian work by Badasquall that it's trying to create a such game... it is at good point, it is called "Pokémon ancient times"... there will be also the original forms of fossil pokémons if i remember.

Why do I suddenly want this so badly?

It has so much potential. You could breed Pokemon for yourself on the main games by using the Daycare game.

You could do minigames to encourage higher IVs and influence the baby's Nature.

I always figured there could be a good nutty Pokemon game set in prehistoric times, either playing like a main game or Pokemon Ranger.
Obviously you'd have to piss off Dialga or something to get there, also stick Heatran and the Regis in the game since they are pretty ancient as well.
