Blaziken was nothing before getting Speed Boost in Gen 5.

5- Moxiemence was a terrifying force. Before Excadrill was banned, T-Tar was the most used. Afterwards, I'd say Politoed can take this gen before the DrizzleSwim ban. Scizor consistently remained at the top.
6- Aegislash? Gengar? Greninja? It's too early to tell. Especially before the Gen 6 tutors.

Generation 1 was Tauros+Tauros counters vs Tauros+Tauros counters.
Gen 2 Curselax reigned supreme.
I don't remember much of Gen 3, although I know that Skarmbliss and Tyrannitar were beastly.
Gen 4 had Garchomp, then Salamence, then Lucario. Infernape was always pretty popular.
Gen 5 was Politoed, Keldeo, Terakion, Garchomp the tier.
Gen 6 is going to be bulky offence with a sprinkling of Talonflame.

Not really. It was very slow to do anything, specially to boost itself, and if I remember correctly Hi Jump Kick was weaker. Any bulky water or ghost could stop it cold.
Then Infernape came along, and it was praised back and forth as "what Blaziken should have been".
Then, Speed Boost brought him back from obscurity and the rest is history.

Gen 4 definitely belongs to Garchomp.
Gen 5 would be a tie between Terrakion and Thundurus. Everyone feared Stone edge/Close Combat and Prankster, respectively.

Then Smogon and whatnot specified it was so, because of Sand Veil which gave it a free Double Team, which has always been frowned upon.
I think that's a perry reliable sign of what dominated a generation... Once you go Uber, you know it was "it".
Thundurus became Uber as well, and so did Blaziken in Gen 5.

I skipped most if not all of gen 5 because of how shitty the metagame was.

I played around when japanese names were the names being used. Obviously Politoed was already broken from the start, and Hydreigon with specs seemed to be another huge force at the time.

Talonflame is truly amazing. I've been using it consistently within Battle Maison and the number of things it wrecks is absurd. Every single annoying statuser from previous gens gets reduced to nothing. Remember how annoying Rain Dish/Leftovers/Leech Seed Ludicolo was? It's an easy OHKO! That thing took ages to take down, and now it's nothing.
That also can be said of most annoying grass/bug types that loved to status you and then wreak havoc.
Also the fact that it one-shots even Mega Blaziken is pretty neat.
I'm not saying it's Uber material, but it's really good, and definitely my favorite this generation. (yes, even with the slightly annoying cry it makes)

That's sort of not that good. Even most Dragons can deal with fairies and Steels using Fire and Ground moves.

Even with Rapid Spin support, you're using an entire teamslot on that and losing momentum in using it when I still have any rock type at all ever ready to not give the slightest shit should your Talonflame return, and that also gives me another chance to set down rocks, which your spinner would have to come back for lest you lose your Talonflame again.

At least Charizard X is only 2x weak to Rock, Volcarona focuses on staying in due to being a booster. SR wakness is entirely the reason why Charizard Y isn't an effective nuke.

Look, to be fair, Talonflame isn't even a piece of shit, if he were allowed in UU, he'd wreck face. But he doesn't stand as tall as other Pokemon in OU. He is BL material and that's about as far as he gets.

With Breloom usage going down due to all the spore nerfs, T-Tar's reign of terror, Blaziken only appearing in OU, and stuff like Azumarill being incredibly common, you pretty much have nothing to bank on for usefulness aside from a really fast fire attack, which so many other Pokemon do better and stronger. Priority Flying isn't that necessary of a niche at all this gen, especially considering you use two teamslots for it due to needing rapid spin support.

Tyranitar is too bulky for Mach Punch to OHKO, and only loses to Close Combat.

Scizor and Ferrothorn have a million other resistances and are bulky as fuck.

Are you guys playing the same game as me? Talonflame is in it's own echelon of badassness when it comes to priority. Before Talonflame, the best priority moves were 40BP Technician moves and Extremespeed, which doesn't get STAB on its main users like Dnite and Luke. Talonflame gets a fucking 120BP STAB move with good offensive typing on a mon with 126 speed. He can OKHO all sorts of things before they can set up, outspeed and U-turn out of bulky rock or water types and still do decent damage with Choice Band, or just stay in and decimate the switch. He really is a lot like a scizor with no defensive set, but he has set the priority bar a lot higher.

There's a little something called a "switch-in" it might seem like something hard to grasp at first, but it's what happens when you're sending in a pokemon to "check" your opponent's Pokemon. If you're switching out, my Dragons will Dance. I'm unaware of any Pokemon that can outspeed a Salamence or Dragonite with +1 speed.

Heracross was THE dominant Mon in Gen 3. If it wasn't for him, Sand Stream will be never so popular, in ADV SS didn't boost Special Defense for Rock mons.

Heracross was banned in the official tournament in Japan in the ADV era, because all his set, even only physical, all have an impact just like Blaziken in Gen V.

Let's take a look

Choice Band Guts Heracross can deal with every physical wall, Machamp only have Cross Chop and was very slow and lacks dual STAB.

Megahorn from a Guts Banded Heracross 2HKO Weezing and Dusclops.

That's why another guys run EndureSalac Reversal Heracross, with Swarm, to boost Megahorn power even more.

Heracross was banned in the official format because it forced to build teams to counter him. If you're prepared for the GutsUser but forget to carry priority or Tyranitar and your opponent throw the EndureSalac, you're fucked.

And in the other way, maybe you'll not so fucked but you'll lose either your attackers or a main defensive mon and the others will be weakened.
In this Gen Aqua Jet, Ice Shard and Sucker Punch don't exist. And the Mach Punch users were: Breeloom (easy to counter at the time), Hitmons (lol) and that's it.

Other options was running Fake Out but that's only last for one turn and Hera can just Endure again... And ExtremeSpeed.

Heracross was banned in the official format in ADV. Get your shit together.

This just reminds me a lot of Plat when Technician Scizor came out. Everyone used the Swords Dance set at first but then they realized when you have powerful STAB it just makes sense to fire it off as powerfully as possible, as quickly as possible
