Nintendo finally acknowledges EVs, Natures and base stats.

As expected, the guide is extremely shitty, tries to sell their shitty strategy guide (which is without a pokedex by the way) and completely ignores IVs, actual EV training (suggests super training instead...) and is just overall shit.

I actually don't mind it - it's really cute in pokemon amie, which is the only reason why you'd catch pika anyway. I still miss the old electric noise cry, though.

They don't even mention the words "effort values" anywhere. They don't acknowledge how EVs work, how many are needed to raise a stat by one point, how many you can have max in one stat and how many a pokemon can have on its own.

Why can't they just acknowledge all this shit? Why can't the game just tell you what all your IVs are, without having to punch all the numbers into a calculator? Why can't I learn about EVs, IVs and Natures in game, as opposed to going online? goddamn.

Considering that natures actually highlight the stat they're raising and the stat they're lowering in red and blue respectively, they pretty much have acknowledged it

A lot of people can't grasp that the lvl 50 ev spreads are different from the lvl 100 spreads they keep using. So I'm not surprised that this stuff is too complicated for them.

Really it's impossible to be a "good" trainer without realizing Pokemon are just strings of data. The old saying rings true; the more you know the less happy you become. They should either leave IVs obscure and for what they call "tournament-winning players" and allow children to bask in their ignorance. Besides, it's not like Ash is going to re-breed all of his Pokemon so they're competitively viable.

I find a lot of the new cries and 3D models, while technically superior, are actually a step down. Keep in mind I am a total retrofag and I love 2-D sprites, but Galvantula for instance. His sprite in Gen 5 was excellent. The way his legs moved and occasionally quivered, it really sold the idea of an electric spider. His 3D model in x/y just kind of... sits there.

Oh well, always room for improvement.

I'm glad to finally find someone who agrees. The majority of the models in X/Y are completely lifeless and boring, and they fucked up a lot of classic cries. It's especially noticeable with Unova pokemon because they were introduced as such bouncy, full of life creatures with the B/W's sprites. I've also had it happen a few too many times where I go out of my way to find/catch a Pokemon because I wanted to hear its familiar badass cry and I get some washed out version that barely sounds like the original. Not all of them are like this, but still.

The whole point of IVs is to make each Pokemon unique. Recognizing them would defeat their entire purpose.

They don't have to call them ivs though. They can call them genetics, genetics which are improved by breeding. Quite an easy explanation, and effort values can also be called each pokemon's unique experience that determines how outside factors grow them.

I think the main reason is marketing. What reason is their to make it public, since casual players don't care? And they are in the majority.
