I don't get it.

I'm breeding my Greninja (Destiny Knot) with 5 IV's in 31 with my Wartortle with 3 IV's in 31 but all the damn eggs end up having just 2 or 3 IV's.

What the fuck?

That 1 missing IV on Wartortle is fucking you up. The same thing was happening with a Chansey I was breeding.

Get a 4 - 5 IV Wartortle. It'll make all the difference.

Seriously, the RNG will keep fucking you over. The moment I switched from a 3 IV Azumaril to a 4 IV Marill, it became so much easier.

What I'd been trying to do for 3 days, I managed to do in 20 minutes.

Switch them from position. It have worked several times for me, or maybe I'm just lucky. Also change who is holding the destiny knot and also use a power item to be extra sure, maybe in the perfect IV the other one is missing.

Fellow breeder myth-advise:
I've had greater luck passing good IVs with a 2IV Ditto than I have had with a 3IV egg group Pokemon.
Obviously, the best luck I have are with two 4/5IV parents.

I did the math.
If both of your parents have 5 stats at 31 IV, all five overlapping, (and destiny knot is held), the chance for the offspring to have 5 stats aswell is 19.27%
If four stats are overlapping, its 9.89%
Three stats, 5.08%
Two, 2.60%
One 1.33%
No overlapping stats: 0.68%

That's complete luck, it chooses 5/12 IVs at random, plus Ditto breeds slower than using same species Pokemon (unless it was traded to you, but good luck getting one with good IV spreads)

I have a similar question.
While I was breeding for 6 Iv froakies, I had 2 five IV froakies breeding, one holding destiny knot, one holding everstone. My question is, if the destiny knot passes down five random IV's from both parents, how is it possible that I could get less than 4 IV's on the babies?

My 5IV Squirtle Hidden Power is... electric.
And also just noticed he only learns Aura Sphere by an Egg Move... so I goofed there, so it goes Rapid Spin, Water Pulse, Dark Pulse and Ice Beam.
