How about a design for a ghost Dingo/Thylacine? It's really sketchy and awful (might redo it later). It's a wondering ghost that devours the dreams of unsuspecting humans as well as Pokemon. Like a Thylacine it has a large/strong jaw. Around it's two "outer teeth", there are false dream catchers, lulling it's passerbyers into a false sense of security while they sleep ( the big sticking point being, dream catchers are from the Native American culture, not Aboriginal thus having no effect ). It uses its large hand like tail to draw out the victim's dreams, putting nightmares in the dreams place. They reside in deserts and in the edges of forests, using the holes/homes of their prey to rest in. Their ears are closed so they can concentrate on using their strong sense of smell - communication between this Pokemon's species are done with scent markings. IDK.

The believe killing to be too immoral, but turning humans into Pokemon could make the world a better place (to them.) The leader can be a former scientist that did everything in his power to try to solve the issue of pollution, atmosphere destruction, global warming, but snapped when he realized that humans just kept making the world worse. It's a bit different from the other evil teams. They have twisted views of what is right and wrong and will risk the whole human race to correct what they see to be wrong. What do you all think?

Here's my opinion on that area; Cairns is surrounded by mountains until you reach the docks, which is near some mangroves. There's no actual beach around there unless you travel a good hour or so out, where there's a ton of beaches.
Brisbane is filled with cunts who look like they've either just left the beach or are in the middle of a meeting.
There's a big art scene along the river, but it's also hella expensive and we aren't famous for it or anything.
Between the two places there's metric fuckton of grassland and beaches.
For Broome's area, a lot of mining goes on for a while. The Pilbara is very dusty and mostly hills and spinifex.
Where I used to live there was a giant salt pile between Port and South Hedland, which is a big part of their lives.
Perth is the more artsy fartsy place with hipsters and shit. Perth Modern is full of shits, also my friend goes there and he's the biggest knob. Also he's great.
If you're going to stick hipsters anywhere, make it Perth.
Makes sense for it to be 'underground' and to have a ton of young adults pretend their city in the bottom of dirt state is the greatest.
But I love these places equally because I'm a giant piece of shit too what a great fuckin country

Warner Bros., Sea World, Wet n' Wild, not sure what you'd have there.
Hell, Luna Park if you want something different.
Maybe one of the routes just has a bunch of broken down rides along a beach? Tourists hide behind trashed food stands to battle you.

Well, I was thinking of tree spirits which is where the ghost/grass came in. If it were in a game, it would be postgame in a deep swamp. It would act like one of the waterbenders that controlled the swamp as a giant swamp monster thing from the last airbender.

>>16155887 So it's the Man-Thing and a Trevenant? Wouldn't that be a bit out of place in Australia. It could maybe fit in around pink lake, but that place is full of fairies.

>>16155980 Since the main game is australia based, is there going to be any NZ post game.
There's a lot of lush forest here in New Zealand where that Pokemon could fit perfectly.

>>16155980 There's actually a thing called a Muldjewangk in Aborigine mythology that's a creature that lives in a swamp. It has no real description, and it's been described as anything from a merman to a lumbering monster.
The idea of a swamp postgame area isn't anything to scoff at if we use this idea for a legendary.
Also, while I suck at towns, I'd be more than willing to make more Pokemon ideas and think about the evil team. (I'm the guy who designed the Papinijuwari pokemon from earlier, I'll give myself a name.)

>>16156113 Okay, sorry.
First off is a few mythical guys from the Australia region that I found a tad cool.
The Yowie is a creature that hides in the underbrush, and is pretty much kinda like a Yeti or Bigfoot.
Might make a good single-stage mon, or maybe just as a base for an idea.
Second is the Gurangatch.
In aboriginal Aussie myth, it's this hugeass fish/lizard thing that swam through water and could bore through rock and stone.

Going to vouch another idea. There's a Maori myth where Maui catches a giant fish and Maui's brothers start to cut up the fish leaving giant mountains and crevices in the fish, and that fish became the north island of New Zealand, with the south island being the waka (canoe) they went fishing on. In the centre of the north island is a lake called Lake Taupo. That could be a perfect place to hold a Pokemon based off this myth. Pic related are some ideas I came up with.

And if you haven't realized, I'm going to definitely be helping out in this. I'm "The Red Ogre", but I'll call myself "Tro" for short. I'm currently also working on another game with a friend of mine (That we'll be publishing for Vita, PC, and 360, maybe PS4), so I'm not 100% sure how much I'll be able to chip in. I can draw some ideas for Pokemon, avatars, and other stuff though. When I get that burst of inspiration.

So, I just scribbled up an idea for a section of a north-south route. This one could maybe be part of the route between "Brisbane" and "Wide Bay-Burnett"? Scribbles are grass, circles are unpassable trees, that thing on the lower-left is a hill with some stairs going up it, the crosses are water, the squares are beaches/sand, dots are fences, and single-diagonal-hatching is a pathway or bridge. I was thinking the route could have a couple of farmhouses along the way. One of them could be a small ranch (like the one pictured here), and another could be a cane field (to give an excuse to throw in tall grass). But maybe the cane-field farm should be on the route between "Wide Bay-Burnett" and "Cairns".

>>16159437 I have extended the route. There is now a very quick, linear shortcut for heading north-south, but heading south-north involves a winding path, most likely riddled with trainers along with a short section where going through grass is necessary.
The cave is probably unnecessary, but then I remembered that Mt. Bauple is located along the road north of Brisbane. So I threw it in.
Thoughts?

Walkabout concept of the first town, no enter-able buildings but hey it's a concept of the town not the buildings. Thinking the boardwalk is a bit redundant as it is because you can't access from the side.
Anyway, this is with FRLG tilesets. Very limited in what I can do. I will have to (or have some else do) make a more suitable one. Eucalyptus, spinnifex, sand to rock transitions.
Gonna be a wild ride I tell you what. Probably won't upload again till I have that tileset and at least 2 routes and buildings done.

Stranger: G’day and welcome to the world of Pokemon. What are Pokemon exactly? Struth, now there’s a question, and one I’ve been trying to understand for most of my life.
A spotlight appears and a Pokeball rolls onto the ground. It opens and a Pokemon (Totodile?) appears.
Stranger: To lay it straight for ya though, Pokemon are critters - they come in all shapes and sizes and each have their own special abilities. Pokemon are more than just that though, they can also be some of the best friends you’ll ever have.
The Pokemon jumps around for a moment happily.
Stranger: What’s that, mate? Oh yeah, I forgot - Pokemon have many purposes in this world - from farming to transport, if you give them a purpose, they’ll try their damn hardest to fulfil it - that’s why many people and their Pokemon like to participate in battles to test themselves. You might want to take up the gym challenge yourself and see just how far you can get. You want to give it a go? Alright! So first, let’s get some info from ya!
The usual question sections come up asking gender and name.
Stranger: Now that we’re set, it’s time to start your Pokemon adventure! Hope to see you soon, mate!
