so, I have this shiny protean Greninja with 31 IVs in HP, Sp. A, Sp. D, Def and Speed, but it has jolly nature wich hinders Sp. A, is there a way to use Greninja with a physical moveset in competitive play or am I condemned to never use it?

I think physical is actually better. You get U-turn, Waterfall (flinch chance means it's better than Surf) and Rock Slide to avoid a Smogon bird revenge kill.

Honestly I dunno why everyone makes him special, his physical pool is pretty fucking good and his attack is only 8 base points lower than his special attack (read: fucking nothing)

Don't run water shuriken though, run return or something instead. Water shuriken fuckin' sucks.

If it has no EVs or you know how many it has, go to the Battle Institute in Lumiose City, save before you accept the challenge. Itll auto level to level 50 then just use an IV checker on your computer or phone

Because he has way better coverage with a special moveset.
Hydro Pump, Dark Pulse, Ice Beam, and Grass Knot/Extrasensory/HP give you way more latitude.

It's like you're purposefully being ignorant. He was a plenty good scout, lategame cleaner and in a pinch he always did a little bit of damage.

It's absolutely hilarious how nobody expects physical Greninja, so running a physical set can actually work a lot in your favor.

What I'm going for right now is

Greninja @Assault Vest
252 Att / 96 Def / 160 Spe
Jolly Nature
Power-Up Punch
Shadow Sneak
Water Shuriken
U-Turn

The EV spread lets it outspeed Adamant 252/252 Smogonbirde and (hopefully) KO with Water Shuriken, and after a few PuP's it should be enough to at the very least put a pretty big dent in most everything. The Def EVs can be moved to SpD if you want to tank more special hits I guess. Ghost/Water isn't perfect coverage but priority is always helpful in case of paralysis. U-Turn is for last-ditch damage and general scouting.

The difference in -10% of your SA and the loss of maybe 10 attack at level 50 would suggest to me that you're just about better off running A, but it's much of a muchness. Check up it's stats on serebii at lv. 50 for your own reference.
