Game Freak was dumb when they decided what should and shouldn't be Fairy type.

Electric mouse with little to no Fairy qualities and no good moves to take advantage of STAB is Fairy type. Meanwhile the lake legendaries who outright look like pixies and have different kinds of fairies incorporated into their names aren't Fairy type.

Not really. Especially when there are other cute Pokemon who have other qualities that would be fitting of Fairy type yet they didn't get re-typed.

So.... just because a Pokemon is decent once a year... it needs to be shafted forever for everyone else?

I'd love if GF could release the list of "Pokemon we will NEVER EVER develop or enhance past what they got at the point of introduction". That way I could finally drop some hope for a good chunk of the pokemon I like.

Considering that's like, their idea of how the metagame should be, Cresselia isn't exactly a slacker outside of that format, and it's sort of really good when it's good to the point of it being pointless to use any of the other 648 choices

Yeah, it should probably be nerfed a bit. Not that it exactly got nerfed. It just didn't get buffed.

I have already heard quite a few times that some of my faves, even if weak and seeing little use in regular competitive gameplay, are nevertheless so frequently spammed across VGC that GF will never give them even the slightest uplift.

Do you happen to have any roster of those VGC-spammed pokemon? It may as well be the closest to the list of which pokemon will never get a retype, Mega, or a BST boost.

Yuxie (still from Pixie), Emrit (still from Spirit, or even from Sprite), Agnome (literally a gnome, a sect of fairies in tons of lore)
If anything that's even more support for them becoming fairy. At least you could argue japanese name intent with Tail Glow and stuff. These shits were well-intended to be fairy-like from the start.
